Specialist - Linux

Role & responsibilities

1. Linux

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Proactively manage system performance, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues across our Linux servers.
• Implement strong security practices, including user authentication, access controls, and vulnerability patching.
• Design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Scripting and automation with shells like Bash as well as configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

2. Cloud Administration

• Design and implement secure cloud solutions, utilizing services from major cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
• Maintain cost-effective and optimized cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Establish and maintain cloud security and compliance standards.
• Proactively monitor cloud environments, managing resource utilization, and addressing performance issues.
• Automate routine cloud administration tasks, including infrastructure provisioning, deployment, monitoring and DR activities.

3. Collaboration and Support

• Work closely with development, networking, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment with company-wide IT goals.
• Provide technical support and training to users, troubleshooting system-related issues.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and knowledge base articles.

4. Required

• A minimum of 8+ years of experience in Linux system administration in a production environment.
• Deep understanding of Linux operating systems concepts (Red Hat/CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
• Proven proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
