Sourcing Lead - Procurement - Steel/Raw Material

Job Description:

Location: PAN India.

Target Industry: Steel Procurement.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals to lead customer interactions for the Procurement business unit. Someone who is a Steel expert, entrepreneurial in nature, willing to design and develop an industry-defining business, and a self-starter who would embrace a degree of ambiguity with ease and showcase adaptability towards various products within the Raw Material procurement space. This role is focused on Demand Generation from a given footprint by reaching out to the right target group.

Principle Accountabilities:

- Lead implementation and execution of procurement processes with existing and new vendors and partners.

- Develop detailed sourcing strategy and category plans to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

- Embrace change, utilize and champion new and existing digital tools and portals applicable to the role.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers to ensure reliable and consistent steel supply.

- Lead negotiations to achieve the best possible pricing, payment terms, and cost efficiencies through volume aggregation and strategic partnerships.

- Ensure that all procured steel products meet the company quality standards and comply with industry regulations.

- Continuously monitor steel market trends, price fluctuations, and emerging risks to inform procurement strategies and make informed purchasing decisions.

- Conduct supplier reliability assessment, develop KPIs, joint action plans, and provide feedback to identify areas of improvement.

- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuous steel supply and business continuity.

- Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and drive cost savings.

- Provide updates about procurement related progress and potential delays on a daily basis to the Sourcing or Category Lead.

- Maintain an awareness of pricing and industry market conditions.

- Provide pricing and product availability to all customers based on the guidelines and processes outlined.

Qualifications:

- Graduate or BE (Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy).

- MBA (Preferred).

Work Experience:

- 12+ years of business development, account management, and team management experience in a B2B environment.

- At least 10 years of proven experience in purchase or procurement in one or more industries, markets, or commodity segments such as EPC, Manufacturers, OEMs, Automotive, or Building materials.

- Entrepreneurial and business owner mindset with startup experience being a big plus.

Required Skills:

- Category understanding of Steel as a raw material and SMBs as an ecosystem.

- Proficiency in the use of email with strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Full professional proficiency of regional language is required.

- Adept at managing cross-functional discussions.

- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment, anticipate future needs, and drive results.

- High level of organization and focus with the ability to work under pressure.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
