Cloud & API Solutions Architect:

Role Summary We are seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the technical strategy and system design for our API management platform. In this role, you will govern a mature Azure cloud environment, standardize our Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code footprints, and design robust API gateway architectures. You will define the patterns that our engineering teams use to build, secure, and observe large-scale fleet data services.

Key Responsibilities

•       Architectural Strategy: Define the overarching cloud architecture on Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability for the API commercial product.

•       API Gateway & Security Design: Architect the global API strategy using Azure APIM. Define enterprise patterns for rate limiting, routing, and centralized authorization using OAuth2 and JWT.

•       IaC & Infrastructure Governance: Oversee and standardize our 18 Terraform (Azure) repositories. Establish best practices for module design, state management, and provisioning of critical resources (AKS, Key Vault, APIM, Redis).

•       Platform Engineering & K8s: Define the cluster architecture and deployment baselines for our Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments. Standardize how teams utilize Helm for application delivery.

•       Observability & Reliability: Architect the monitoring and tracing strategy utilizing OpenTelemetry to ensure end-to-end visibility across all distributed services.

•       Technology Evaluation: Guide the strategic adoption of polyglot services, directing where to effectively leverage Go, Rust, or Scala alongside our core Kotlin backend.

Required Skills (Must-Have)

•       Extensive experience designing enterprise-grade solutions on Microsoft Azure.

•       Deep architectural knowledge of API Gateway patterns, edge routing, and distributed system security (OAuth2, JWT).

•       Mastery of Terraform at scale, with experience managing multi-repo IaC environments and complex Azure networking topologies.

•       Strong background in container orchestration, specifically designing and governing Kubernetes (AKS) and Helm deployment architectures.

•       Previous background as a senior developer in the JVM ecosystem (Kotlin, Spring Boot, Quarkus) to effectively mentor engineering teams and review system code.

•       Strong domain knowledge in Fleet, Telematics, or IoT, understanding the unique data throughput and security challenges of commercial automotive APIs.

Preferred Skills (Should-Have)

•       Experience designing CI/CD architectures using GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines.

•       Expertise in designing distributed observability stacks with OpenTelemetry.

•       Experience designing high-throughput data layers utilizing Redis for caching and state management.

•       Familiarity with leveraging Python for infrastructure automation and operations.

Nice-to-Have

•       Experience migrating or designing high-performance services in Rust or Go (including custom Terraform providers).

•       Understanding of frontend architectures (TypeScript/React) to guide developer portal integrations.
