Desktop Application, Server Side Drivers

Experience: 4-7 Years

Location: Hyderabad (Hybrid)

We are looking for a detail-oriented Software Tester to ensure the quality of our desktop application, its server-side components, and the device drivers that connect it to hardware. He/she will analyse requirements, design and execute test cases, report defects, and work closely with developers and product owners to deliver stable, reliable releases.

- Review and analyse functional and technical requirements and identify gaps or ambiguities early.

- Design, write, and maintain clear, traceable test cases and test scenarios.

- Perform manual testing of the desktop application, covering functional, regression, smoke, sanity, usability, and compatibility testing.

- Test server-side components, including APIs, services, database interactions, and client-server communication.

- Test device drivers, including installation, upgrade, uninstall, and behaviour across supported OS versions and hardware configurations.

- Log, track, and verify defects with clear reproduction steps, logs, and screenshots.

- Participate in test planning, estimation, and release sign-off.

- Support root cause analysis by collecting logs and system information and collaborating with developers.

- Maintain test documentation, test data, and test environments.

- Contribute to improving QA processes and test coverage.

- Strong knowledge of manual testing concepts, the software testing life cycle (STLC), and defect life cycle.

- Ability to understand and analyse requirements and convert them into effective test cases.

- Experience in test case design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, negative testing, etc.).

- Hands-on experience testing desktop applications (Windows; macOS/Linux is a plus).

- Understanding of client-server architecture, with basic knowledge of testing APIs and backend services.

- Familiarity with log analysis and debugging basics.

- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps).

- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- IoT / hardware devices: Experience testing applications that communicate with IoT or peripheral devices (USB, serial, Bluetooth, network-connected devices) and understanding of device firmware or driver interaction.

- Automation: Exposure to test automation using tools or languages such as Python, Java, C#, Selenium, WinAppDriver, Appium, or similar; API automation with Postman or REST Assured.

- Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).

- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.

- Knowledge of virtual machines for multi-OS testing.

- Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.

- Clear written and verbal communication.

- Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team.

- Willingness to learn new tools, devices, and technologies.
