Software Engineering Manager

The core requirements for the job include the following:

Multi-Cloud Managed Relational Databases (AWS and Azure):

• AWS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora), multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, and performance insights.
• Azure Expertise: Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Auto-failover groups.
• Operations and Scale: Hands-on experience with automated backups, major-version engine upgrades with minimal downtime, schema migrations, zero-downtime blue/green deployments, and cross-region disaster recovery (DR).

In-Memory Datastores and Licensing Shifts:

• In-Memory Engines: Experience operating Redis clusters (ElastiCache, Azure Cache for Redis) at scale, including data persistence, evicted keys optimization, and cluster mode operations.
• Valkey Ecosystem Experience: Since Redis shifted its licensing model, Valkey (backed by the Linux Foundation) has become the open-source industry standard for in-memory caching. Look for candidates who understand.
• Redis-to-Valkey migration pathways (e. g., AWS ElastiCache for Valkey, zero-downtime blue/green upgrades using tools like RedisShake) to optimize license compliance and reduce cloud spend by 20-30%.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

• Candidates should operate via Terraform, OpenTofu, or Bicep/CloudFormation rather than manual console tweaking.
• Automated provisioning, drift detection, and database CI/CD pipelines (e. g., Flyway, Liquibase).

FinOps and Performance Optimization:

• Experience conducting database cost allocation, instance rightsizing, reserving instances (RIs / Savings Plans), and evaluating serverless vs. provisioned models (e. g., Aurora Serverless v2 Azure SQL Serverless)
