About this role
Company Description Intellinesia Labs is an independent research lab focused on transforming complex real-world challenges into elegant software solutions. The team combines research-driven innovation with human-centered design to build tools that are both technically robust and intuitive to use. Interns have the opportunity to work in a learning-focused environment that values curiosity, experimentation, and collaboration. The lab's culture encourages thinking deeply about problems, prototyping quickly, and iterating based on user feedback.
Role Description We're looking for an AI-first Software Engineer Intern to contribute to the design, development, and testing of software solutions that support the lab's research initiatives. You'll work primarily in our JavaScript/TypeScript stack, while integrating LLMs and AI frameworks into real workflows — not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how you build. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing and reviewing code, integrating LLM APIs and AI tooling into product features, debugging and resolving issues, writing basic technical documentation, and collaborating with mentors and team members on project tasks. You'll participate in remote stand-ups, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions while learning best practices in modern, AI-assisted software engineering. This is a remote internship role, offering flexible collaboration across distributed teams and exposure to research-driven product development.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship features across the frontend and backend using our JavaScript/TypeScript stack
- Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into product workflows — prompting, tool use, structured outputs, streaming
- Work with AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vercel AI SDK, or similar) to prototype and productionize AI features
- Use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of your daily workflow
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with mentors and team members across distributed, remote teams
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in a modern frontend framework (React, Next.js, Vue) and/or Node.js backend
- Genuine interest in AI/LLM development — coursework, side projects, hackathons, or personal experimentation all count
- Experience or coursework in software development practices such as version control, testing, and documentation
- Basic understanding or interest in back-end web development, including APIs, databases, and server-side technologies
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with a distributed team
Nice to Have (Bonus Points)
- Experience with Python and/or Go, especially for AI/ML tooling, scripting, or backend services
- Exposure to vector databases, embeddings, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows
- Prior internship, freelance, or open-source software experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Stipend: Up to ₹15,000/month, based on performance
- Certificate of completion
- Flexible, remote-first schedule
- Direct mentorship from senior engineers and researchers
- Hands-on exposure to cutting-edge AI tooling, frameworks, and research-driven product development
Hiring Process 1. Application review (resume + GitHub/portfolio) 2. Initial screening call (~20–30 min) with a team member 3. Technical interview / take-home exercise focused on JavaScript and problem-solving 4. Final conversation with the team to discuss fit and expectations 5. Offer
- To apply, please share your resume, GitHub/portfolio, and (optionally) a note on the most interesting thing you've built with AI tools.
