- Collaborate on integrations with hardware/device interfaces, vendor SDKs, and messaging/queuing systems; support compatibility testing and coordinated software/firmware rollouts.
- Apply secure coding practices (authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets handling) and follow internal risk/compliance requirements; remediate findings with guidance from senior engineers.
- Contribute to modernization efforts (e.g., microservices, event‑driven workflows) by implementing components, refactoring legacy modules, and reducing technical debt.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (unit/integration/contract); instrument services for metrics, logs, and traces; contribute to SLO dashboards and alerts.
- Participate in on‑call rotations, triage production incidents, and contribute to post‑mortems and corrective actions.
- Write clear documentation for designs, runbooks, and operational procedures; follow established coding standards and patterns; provide peer code reviews.
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Experience, with demonstrated leadership in building and operating distributed, high‑availability systems at scale.
- Proven track record defining and delivering backend architectures in Java for performance‑critical services; proficiency with at least one scripting language (Python/Bash) for tooling and automation.
- Expertise designing RESTful and/or gRPC services; deep familiarity with messaging/streaming platforms (Kafka, MQ, or similar) and relational/NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB/Cassandra).
- Hands‑on experience leading CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code programs; containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and production workloads on a major cloud (AWS/Azure).
- Advanced knowledge of secure SDLC, secrets management, TLS/mTLS; experience steering vulnerability management and remediation at the program level.
- Strong command of observability (metrics/logging/tracing), alerting, and dashboarding; history of defining SLIs/SLOs and operationalizing them across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident response, run effective post‑mortems, and drive systemic reliability improvements with SRE and partner teams.
- Excellent communication and influence skills; able to align stakeholders and mentor engineers across multiple squads.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
- Experience with ATM/branch channels, hardware device control, or embedded device integrations.
- Knowledge of ISO 8583/20022 and card/payment transaction processing; familiarity with HSMs, PIN translation, and cryptographic key management in financial services.
- Experience with device/edge fleet management, over‑the‑air updates, and remote telemetry at global scale.
- Depth in event‑driven architectures, workflow/state machines, and idempotent processing patterns; experience implementing saga/compensation strategies.
- Familiarity with SRE practices and running resiliency programs (e.g., chaos experiments, game days) across critical customer journeys.
