Software Engineer - API

Build backend functionality, integrations, workflows, and supporting platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Implement backend features and APIs.
• Build and maintain external-system connectors.
• Extend shared integration frameworks rather than creating one-off solutions.
• Implement data transformation and normalization logic.
• Write unit and integration tests.
• Troubleshoot failures using logs, metrics, traces, and debuggers.
• Participate in design and code reviews.
• Maintain documentation for owned components.

Mandatory technical skills and experience

• 4+ years professional software engineering.
• Strong programming fundamentals.
• Experience building backend applications or services.
• Practical experience with:
• REST APIs
• HTTP
• JSON
• authentication
• webhooks
• SQL
• Git
• Docker
• automated testing
• Linux
• Basic understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency.
• Able to integrate third-party APIs, including pagination, authentication, error handling, and retries.
• Comfortable debugging an unfamiliar codebase.

Preferred

• Kubernetes.
• Cloud APIs.
• Messaging systems.
• Observability tooling.
• Infrastructure or IT operations systems.
• Python where working closely with AI components.
