The Role We're looking for a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and scale backend services that power our crypto wallet platform. You'll work across our core transaction systems, wallet infrastructure, and integrations, writing production-grade Java/Spring Boot services that handle real money movement at scale, with security and reliability as first-class concerns. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning systems end-to-end, from design through deployment and monitoring, in a high-stakes, fast-paced fintech environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot for wallet, transaction, and payment processing systems
• Build and optimize data models and queries across PostgreSQL (relational, transactional data) and MongoDB (flexible/document-based data)
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven services that integrate with internal systems and third-party providers (banking rails, crypto exchanges, KYC/AML vendors)
• Deploy, monitor, and scale services on AWS (EKS/ECS, RDS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, CloudWatch)
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with strong attention to correctness — especially around financial transactions, idempotency, and concurrency
• Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions for scalability, reliability, and security
• Implement and uphold security best practices given the sensitivity of wallet/key management and financial data
• Collaborate closely with product, QA, security, and DevOps teams in an agile environment
• Debug and resolve production issues, including performance bottlenecks and data integrity issues
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests & participate in code reviews

What We are Looking For: Must-Have:

• 3 - 5 years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL - schema design, query optimization, transactions, indexing
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
• Practical experience deploying and operating services on AWS (EC2/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• Good grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals
• Familiarity with concurrency, transactional integrity, and idempotency patterns (critical for financial systems)
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-changing environments

Good to Have:

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or crypto/blockchain systems
• Familiarity with message queues/streaming (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ)
• Exposure to caching layers
• Understanding of crypto wallet concepts
• Familiarity with compliance considerations relevant to fintech (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, AML/KYC)
• Experience working in an early-stage startup environment
