Software Development Engineer (Crypto HFT)

## About the role BrownRice Capital is a crypto trading firm operating across multiple trading venues. We focus on low-latency execution and robust operational stability to thrive in fast-moving digital asset markets. ## What you'll do - Build and optimize components across our trading, market-data, and tooling stack - Move fluidly between Python, Node.js, and Rust depending on the problem - Integrate with exchange APIs (WebSocket/REST/FIX) and handle real-time market data - Own system reliability — monitoring, alerting, and incident response as part of our on-call/SRE rotation - Debug and resolve production issues in a fast-moving, low-latency environment ## What we're looking for - 1–2 years of software engineering experience - Strong CS fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, systems, networking - Language-agnostic by instinct; you pick up new languages fast and care more about the problem than the syntax - Comfortable with Linux, Git, and debugging in production - Ownership mindset and level-headed under pressure ## Nice to have - Experience with Rust or other systems-level languages - Exposure to low-latency, distributed, or high-throughput systems - Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) - Familiarity with a cloud provider, AWS preferred - Interest in crypto, markets, or trading ## Why join - Remote-first with high autonomy - Work where performance and reliability matter most - Learn trading infrastructure from the ground up, fast
