Role Overview As an SDE at Plivo, you will build and ship complete production systems that power our products end to end, from a React frontend through Go and Python services to a PostgreSQL and Redis data layer, all running on AWS. You will own what you build in full, taking it from design through to what runs reliably in production at scale. The work is hands-on and high-ownership, with real impact from day one, and it suits engineers who think in systems and want to own the whole picture rather than a single slice of it.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship complete features end to end, across the React frontend, Go and Python backend, and database.
• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in Rust, Golang and Python, using frameworks like FastAPI etc.
• Design and scale systems backed by PostgreSQL and Redis, balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
• Own what you ship in production, partnering with DevOps on deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning across AWS.
• Write clean, well-tested code and raise the engineering bar through reviews and solid practices.
• Work closely with product, design, and other engineers to take ideas from prototype to production.
• Debug across the whole stack, from the browser through the backend to the database, and fix problems at the root.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong fundamentals in data structures and system design.
• Full-stack ability, comfortable moving across frontend, backend, and databases, with the range to own a feature end to end.
• A track record of shipping complete systems to production, ideally things real users have relied on.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Go or Python), with a solid command of relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Ability to think in terms of system, and build them at scale without compromising quality
• Clear thinking, a bias for shipping, and the communication skills to work well across teams.
• Attention to detail and key understanding of a problem from a customer perspective
• Ability to automate their work with AI agents and focus on innovation and problem solving

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS and containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with caching and async task processing, such as Redis and Celery.
• Hands on experience in building large scale production systems
• Exposure to real-time systems, message queues, or event-driven architecture.
• Open-source contributions, or systems built from scratch.
