Senior Backend Engineer / Java Backend Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture. The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving and Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) skills, along with experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
  
• Design distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly available services.
  
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases and optimize queries and application performance.
  
• Implement secure, reliable, and scalable backend services.
  
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
  
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code.
  
• Analyze and resolve performance, scalability, and production issues.
  
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
  
• Apply appropriate Data Structures and Algorithms to solve complex engineering problems.
  

Mandatory Technical Skills

Java

• Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/17+.
  
• Strong understanding of OOP, Collections, Generics, Exception Handling, Multithreading, and Java Memory Model.
  
• Good understanding of Java Streams, Lambda expressions, and functional programming.
  
• Experience with concurrency, synchronization, Executor Framework, and CompletableFuture.
  

Spring Boot

• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
  
• Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security.
  
• REST API development.
  
• Dependency Injection and Spring ecosystem fundamentals.
  
• Experience with configuration, profiles, Actuator, and application monitoring.
  

Microservices

• Strong understanding of Microservices architecture and design principles.
  
• Experience designing and developing production-grade microservices.
  
• Understanding of service discovery, API Gateway, load balancing, centralized configuration, and fault tolerance.
  
• Experience with inter-service communication using REST, messaging, or asynchronous mechanisms.
  
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts such as retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, idempotency, eventual consistency, and distributed transactions.
  

Data & Persistence

• Strong SQL skills and experience with databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle.
  
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate.
  
• Understanding of database indexing, query optimization, transactions, and normalization.
  
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB is a plus.
  

DSA & Problem Solving

• Strong understanding of Arrays, Strings, Linked Lists, Stacks, Queues, Hashing, Trees, Graphs, Heaps, and Tries.
  
• Knowledge of Sorting, Searching, Recursion, Dynamic Programming, Greedy algorithms, and Backtracking.
  
• Ability to analyze time and space complexity.
  
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills.
  

• Experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ or other messaging systems.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
