About this role
Nuvama's Quant Engineering team builds the internal platforms that support systematic trading, quantitative research, and client servicing operations. We are a small, high-calibre team that moves fast and values engineers who take full ownership — from API design to production deployment. You will work closely with quant researchers, traders, and business teams to build tools that are central to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the development and iteration of internal research and analytics platforms — interactive dashboards, real-time data visualisation, strategy management interfaces, and workflow tooling.
- Build and maintain backend services: REST and WebSocket APIs, async task workers, data ingestion pipelines, and integrations with internal data infrastructure.
- Integrate AI and LLM capabilities into internal platforms — agent interfaces, multi-turn conversation backends, RAG retrieval endpoints, and tool-use orchestration layers.
- Work across the data layer: PostgreSQL schema design, vector search (pgvector), time-series querying, and Redis-based caching and messaging.
- Support client servicing platform development: workflow management, role-based access control, pipeline tracking, and exception handling interfaces.
- Build internal tooling: monitoring dashboards, deployment automation, and developer environment improvements.
- Participate in code reviews, learn from senior engineers, and contribute to engineering standards across the stack.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, data visualisation libraries, WebSockets
- Backend: Python 3.11+, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery, asyncio
- AI/LLM: Azure AI Foundry, Anthropic Claude API, OpenAI API, LangChain, pgvector RAG
- Databases: PostgreSQL (pgvector), Redis, S3-compatible object storage
- Infrastructure: Linux (Ubuntu), nginx, Docker, Prometheus/Grafana
- Version control: Git
Requirements
- 1–3 years of full-stack development experience in a production environment.
- Good working knowledge of React (hooks, state management, component patterns) and Python (FastAPI or Django REST).
- Solid understanding of async programming, REST API design, and WebSocket protocols.
- Experience with PostgreSQL — query optimisation, schema design, and indexing.
- Comfortable working on Linux servers: deploying services, reading logs, debugging via CLI.
- Familiarity with Redis and async task brokers (Celery / RabbitMQ).
- Strong communication skills — you'll collaborate with researchers and traders who spec features informally and iterate quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience building internal platforms or dashboards in a trading, risk, or financial data environment.
- Working knowledge of LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, or agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, function-calling).
- Familiarity with vector databases or embedding-based retrieval.
- Understanding of Indian financial market conventions — equities, futures, options.
- Experience with Prometheus/Grafana instrumentation or similar observability tooling.
