Social Media Manager

About the Role

This is a brand-manager role, not a posting role. You will own the social presence of multiple client brands end-to-end define each brand's voice, plan what gets made, brief and drive the designers, video editors and writers, and be accountable for the reach, engagement and leads that result. Tamil-first thinking is central: most of our audiences consume, share and respond in Tamil.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the social media brand strategy for assigned client accounts — positioning, tone of voice, content pillars, visual identity rules and platform mix (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp Channels).
• Build monthly content calendars aligned to client business goals, festivals, Tamil cultural moments, launches and trending topics.
• Write clear creative briefs for designers and video editors — objective, hook, key message, format, aspect ratio, copy, references and deadline.
• Drive the creative team day to day: review first cuts and drafts, give specific actionable feedback, and push work to the agreed standard before client delivery.
• Conceptualise Reels, Shorts, carousels and campaign ideas; write or approve Tamil and English captions, hooks, scripts and CTAs.
• Coordinate shoots — shot lists, talent/influencer coordination, on-location direction with the production team.
• Track platform analytics (reach, saves, shares, watch time, retention, follower growth, profile visits, leads) and turn them into monthly performance reports with next-step recommendations.
• Work with the performance marketing team to identify top organic content for paid boosting and give creative inputs for ad campaigns.
• Manage community: comments, DMs, reputation issues and escalation handling within agreed response times.
• Present content plans and results to clients confidently; handle feedback and approvals and retain account trust.
• Stay ahead of platform algorithm changes, formats, trending audio and Tamil social media culture.

Required Technical Skills & Mandatory Experience

• Minimum 5 years in social media / digital marketing inside a digital marketing or advertising agency, handling multiple brands concurrently. In-house-only or freelance-only backgrounds do not qualify.
• Fluent Tamil — ability to write native-quality Tamil captions, hooks and scripts, and judge Tamil creative for tone, cultural fit and correctness.
• Proven brand-management capability: can show brands where they defined the voice, content strategy and visual direction — not just scheduled posts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and drive designers and video editors through briefs, reviews and deadlines.
• Hands-on with Meta Business Suite, Instagram Insights, YouTube Studio and Creator Studio analytics.
• Working creative skill in Canva and basic Photoshop / CapCut or equivalent to mock up concepts and references for the team.
• Working knowledge of Meta Ads Manager (boosting, basic audience setup) and lead-generation objectives.
• Proficiency with content planning and scheduling tools (Meta Planner, Buffer, Hootsuite, Notion, Google Sheets or similar).
• Must share a portfolio of brand accounts handled, with before/after results (growth, engagement, leads).

Preferred / Good to Have

• Experience handling real estate, education, F&B, salon/beauty, political or media brands.
• Influencer marketing experience with Tamil creators.
• Experience marketing events, seminars or knowledge products.
• Familiarity with AI tools for ideation, copy and visuals (ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney, Canva AI).
• Basic videography or mobile shooting ability.
