About this role
The Snowflake Administrator is responsible for managing, optimizing, and maintaining Snowflake’s cloud-based data warehousing platform to ensure high performance, security, and scalability. This role involves collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to support data operations, enforce security policies, and optimize resource utilization within the Snowflake environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Management: Configure and manage Snowflake environments, including virtual warehouses, databases, schemas, and roles to meet organizational needs.
- User and Access Control: Manage user accounts, roles, and privileges using Snowflake’s Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure secure and appropriate data access.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune Snowflake performance, including query optimization, warehouse sizing, and resource allocation for cost-efficiency.
- Security Implementation: Enforce data security measures such as encryption, access controls, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Data Management: Oversee data loading, transformation, and extraction processes, ensuring efficient data storage and retention policies.
- Cost Management: Monitor and optimize Snowflake credit usage to balance performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage backup, failover, and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Support and Training: Provide technical support to users, troubleshoot issues, and train team members on Snowflake best practices.
- Integration: Collaborate with teams to integrate Snowflake with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and other data tools (e.g. ETL/ELT pipelines, BI tools).

Snowflake Platform Administration
- Manage Snowflake
accounts, warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, and users
- Implement
RBAC , security policies, and data governance standards
- Monitor
warehouse usage, query performance, and cost optimization
- Handle
cloning, Time Travel, failover, replication , and disaster recovery
- Manage
Dev / QA / Prod environments — capacity planning and scaling
- Troubleshoot
performance issues, failed tasks , and platform incidents
Development & Integration
- Develop
stored procedures, UDFs, and Snowflake Scripting solutions
- Implement
CDC using
Streams, Tasks, and Snowpipe for incremental data changes
- Integrate Snowflake with external sources (AWS S3, Azure ADLS, GCS, APIs, BI tools)
- Create and manage
Snowflake Tasks and orchestration workflows
Automation & Operations
- Automate provisioning, monitoring, alerting, and housekeeping
- Build
CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake objects and deployments
- Document technical standards, runbooks, and best practices
Collaboration & Governance
- Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business teams
- Enforce data quality, lineage, and compliance standards
- Support audits, access reviews, and security compliance
- Mentor junior members and contribute to platform roadmap
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years hands-on Snowflake
administration and development
- Strong
SQL, stored procedures , and
Snowflake Scripting
- CDC — Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe
- RBAC , masking policies, row access policies, data governance
- Cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP integration with Snowflake
- Automation of data workflows and operational tasks
- Query tuning, warehouse optimization, troubleshooting
- Agile/DevOps — Git and CI/CD tools
Preferred Qualifications
- SnowPro Advanced Administrator or SnowPro Core
- dbt, Airflow, Python/Snowpark
- Private Link, SSO/SAML, SCIM
- Snowflake Horizon — tagging, classification, lineage
- Regulated industry experience (SOX, GDPR, HIPAA)
