• Role Summary: Oversee, plan, and execute all mechanical, electrical, and automation maintenance activities in the Steel Melting Shop to maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime, and ensure safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

• Develop Schedules: Create preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans for all SMS equipment.
• Maximize Uptime: Ensure high availability of the Induction Furnace, Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), and Continuous Casting Machine (CCM).
• Troubleshoot Failures: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdown failures to prevent recurrence.
• Manage Spares: Oversee inventory planning for critical mechanical and electrical spare parts.
• Shutdown Planning: Organize and execute planned periodic maintenance shutdowns efficiently.

Team Leadership & Safety

• Lead Workforce: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of maintenance engineers, technicians, and local staff.
• Enforce Safety: Implement strict safety protocols, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and ensure 100% PPE compliance.
• Promote 5S: Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organization in maintenance zones.

Budget & Optimization

• Control Costs: Monitor and optimize the maintenance budget, reducing operational expenses where possible.
• Upgrade Systems: Identify and recommend technological upgrades to improve mill efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 12-25 years of maintenance experience in a Steel Melting Shop (SMS).
• Specific Expertise: Proven experience with Induction Furnaces, EAF/LRF, and CCM maintenance.
• Expat Experience: Prior experience working as an expatriate or managing multicultural teams in East Africa (ideally Ethiopia) is highly preferred.
• Tech Skills: Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS/SAP) and AutoCAD.
