About the Role

BuildAmbit is looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) — Interior Design to lead the development and delivery of our Interior Design learning ecosystem.

The SME will be responsible for bringing strong industry expertise into our curriculum, ensuring that the program is practical, relevant, industry-aligned, and focused on the skills required by today's Interior Design professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the Interior Design subject matter across BuildAmbit's learning programs.
• Design and structure curriculum, modules, learning outcomes, assignments, and practical projects.
• Develop and review course content to ensure it meets industry standards and current professional practices.
• Bring strong practical knowledge of interior design, space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, detailing, and design processes.
• Develop industry-relevant case studies, projects, exercises, and real-world scenarios.
• Work closely with the Content and Learning teams to convert subject expertise into engaging learning experiences.
• Identify the latest trends, technologies, tools, and workflows shaping the Interior Design industry.
• Ensure the curriculum reflects current industry expectations and employability requirements.
• Support the creation of masterclasses, workshops, webinars, and expert-led sessions.
• Review and quality-check learning content, projects, assessments, and learner submissions.
• Collaborate with industry professionals and practitioners to strengthen the program's industry relevance.
• Support learner queries and provide subject-matter guidance where required.
• Contribute to marketing initiatives through expert insights, videos, social media content, and industry-focused thought leadership.
• Participate in course launches, industry events, and other BuildAmbit initiatives related to Interior Design.

What We're Looking For

• Degree/Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience in Interior Design preferred.
• Strong understanding of professional Interior Design workflows and project execution.
• Practical experience with design documentation, space planning, materials, detailing, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in relevant design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, Enscape, V-Ray, or equivalent tools.
• Strong communication, presentation, and teaching abilities.
• Ability to simplify complex design concepts and explain them effectively.
• Strong understanding of the skills and competencies expected by Interior Design employers.
• Passion for education, mentoring, and developing industry-ready professionals.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Good to Have

• Experience in teaching, training, mentoring, or curriculum development.
• Experience working with leading architecture/interior design firms or real estate/development companies.
• Strong professional portfolio with completed Interior Design projects.
• Experience with BIM/digital design workflows.
• Existing industry network across Interior Design and AEC organisations.
• Comfortable appearing on camera for masterclasses, social media, and educational content.
