    About this role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Smart Home Project Manager [AI & Automation] based in India.

We are seeking a hands-on Smart Home Project Manager to lead the implementation of intelligent home technologies that enhance comfort, health, energy efficiency, and everyday living. In this remote role, you will oversee smart home systems from initial planning and vendor selection through installation, testing, and final handover. You will combine technical expertise in home automation and IoT with AI-powered prototyping to develop innovative integrations and streamline project workflows. Working closely with architects, engineers, construction teams, and external vendors, you will ensure technology is seamlessly integrated into wellness-focused residential environments. You will also experiment with AI-assisted coding and no-code tools to build practical solutions, automate processes, and accelerate implementation. This opportunity is ideal for an independent, curious professional who enjoys turning ideas into working systems within a fast-moving, international team.

Accountabilities:: Smart Home System Implementation: Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of smart home technologies across residential projects, including lighting, climate control, air and water quality monitoring, energy management, security, and connectivity.

Technology Evaluation and Vendor Selection: Research, evaluate, and select smart home platforms, devices, and technology vendors that align with project requirements, wellness objectives, reliability standards, and electromagnetic field (EMF)-conscious design principles.

Technical Design Integration: Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) consultants, and construction teams to integrate smart home infrastructure into building designs from the earliest planning stages.

Installation and Commissioning: Manage vendors, installers, and system integrators throughout installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and final handover to ensure systems operate as intended.

AI-Powered Prototyping: Use AI tools to rapidly prototype smart home integrations, test automation concepts, and validate technical solutions before deploying them in residential environments.

Workflow Automation and Internal Tools: Build internal systems and streamline operational workflows using AI-assisted coding, no-code platforms, and automation tools. Develop solutions that improve project tracking, vendor coordination, reporting, and day-to-day execution.

Emerging Technology Exploration: Stay informed about developments in smart home technology, artificial intelligence, IoT, and automation. Experiment with new tools and approaches to identify opportunities for innovation and improved resident experiences.

Project Management and Delivery: Manage project timelines, budgets, deliverables, dependencies, and implementation milestones. Identify potential risks early and ensure smart home activities remain aligned with broader construction and development schedules.

Cross-Functional and International Coordination: Coordinate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and technical partners across India and the United States, maintaining clear communication and progress updates across time zones.

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Create clear technical documentation covering system configurations, integrations, operating procedures, and maintenance requirements. Ensure residents, facilities teams, and future project teams can understand and manage the installed systems.

Wellness-Centered Technology: Ensure technology choices support healthy, comfortable living environments, with consideration for air and water quality, circadian lighting, energy efficiency, and low-EMF design principles.

    Requirements:

Professional Experience: 3–7 years of experience in smart home technology, home automation, Internet of Things (IoT), Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems, or Building Management Systems (BMS), preferably within residential real estate or construction projects.

Smart Home Platforms and Protocols: Hands-on knowledge of smart home platforms and communication protocols such as Home Assistant, Control4, Crestron, KNX, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter.

Installation and Integration Experience: Demonstrated experience managing smart home installations with vendors and system integrators, from initial planning and equipment selection through implementation, testing, and handover.

AI-Assisted Development: Practical experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Lovable, or Replit to build prototypes, create integrations, automate workflows, or develop internal tools.

No-Code and Workflow Automation: Familiarity with no-code platforms and automation tools such as Zapier, Make, and Airtable, with the ability to identify repetitive processes and build efficient solutions.

Demonstrable Technical Projects: Ability to showcase examples of smart home integrations, prototypes, automations, or internal tools you have developed. Candidates should be prepared to share relevant projects as part of their application.

Building Systems Knowledge: Understanding of how smart home technologies interact with residential infrastructure, building systems, connectivity, and construction requirements.

Wellness Technology Interest: A strong interest in wellness-oriented residential technology, including indoor air and water quality, circadian lighting, energy management, and low-EMF design, is a significant advantage.

Project Management Skills: Strong organizational and coordination abilities, with experience managing budgets, schedules, vendor relationships, deliverables, and multiple project priorities.

Problem-Solving and Initiative: A practical, experimental mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges, test new ideas, work through ambiguity, and turn concepts into functioning systems without requiring close supervision.

Communication and Collaboration: Clear and proactive written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote, multicultural environment.

Autonomy and Adaptability: Comfortable working independently, managing changing priorities, and taking ownership of outcomes in a fast-moving, internationally distributed team.

Availability: Ability to work remotely from India with flexible working hours that accommodate reasonable overlap with colleagues based in the United States.

    Benefits:

Competitive Monthly Compensation: Monthly compensation ranging from ₹2,38,250 to ₹2,85,900 , depending on experience and interview performance.

Remote Work Flexibility: Work remotely from India with flexible working hours and coordination with an international team.

Innovative Technical Environment: Opportunity to experiment with smart home systems, AI-assisted coding, no-code automation, and emerging IoT technologies.

End-to-End Project Ownership: Take responsibility for smart home implementation from initial concept and planning through deployment, testing, and handover.

Professional Growth: Develop expertise at the intersection of home automation, artificial intelligence, residential engineering, and wellness-focused technology.

Creative Freedom and Autonomy: Explore new ideas, prototype solutions quickly, and build practical tools without relying on rigid processes or constant supervision.

International Collaboration: Work alongside professionals across design, architecture, engineering, and construction in a globally distributed environment.

Meaningful Impact: Contribute to residential communities designed to prioritize health, comfort, sustainability, and a more thoughtful relationship between people and technology.

Compensation and Additional Benefits: The provided job description does not specify additional benefits such as healthcare coverage, paid leave, insurance, or retirement contributions. These details should be confirmed during the recruitment process.
