Shopify Technical Lead

You will be part of our rapidly growing Shopify practice, helping to shape and deliver the right outcomes for our clients. You will operate across the project lifecycle, from discovery through to development, testing, training, and post-implementation support.

The core responsibilities are:

Development of Client Solutions

• Participate in the discovery phase and provide an estimation of the business requirements.
• Plan and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project execution as per technical and functional specifications.
• Review technical requirements and adapt them to Shopify.
• Communicate with client business teams to fully understand client expectations.
• Participate in and lead code-review sessions to identify potential project bottlenecks and suggest solutions.
• Engage in technical design discussions, requirement analysis, coding, testing, implementation, and maintenance of Shopify and associated software applications.
• Manage technical delivery of integrations and custom extensions.
• Provide hands-on support in software/application architecture, development, design, independent analysis, and problem resolution.
• Manage Shopify setup, configuration, customization, data migration, and deployment of applications to Shopify and associated platforms.
• Provide guidance to clients and developers on technology, processes, and applications while updating them on regular project-related developments.
• Effectively troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Train and integrate new team members and proactively support the continued development of existing team members.
• Build and promote a positive working environment for the team.
• Effectively work with team members in line with company policy and procedures, including performance, development, disciplinary, and conflict resolution, with effective feedback.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Commercial

• Support Presales during the development of new business with new or existing clients.

General

• Participate in recruitment activities where necessary.
• Maintain certification in Shopify.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Experience

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Team player with excellent collaboration skills and a fantastic can-do attitude.
• Self-driven, with an aptitude to learn and keep up with the latest developments in Shopify.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A minimum of 4 years' experience developing on Shopify, including:
• Experience in implementing applications in the cloud using serverless functions, services, etc.
• Experience in implementing unit tests for Node.js or PHP.
• Experience in performance tuning of Node.js or PHP applications and writing high-performance code.
• Experience in addressing quality and security issues in Node.js/PHP code.
• Good exposure to test-driven development while using industry best practices, with an ability to write new test suites.
• Ability to produce code that is easy to read and maintain.
• Proven track record in software development environments and experience with end-to-end project lifecycles.
• Proficient in coordinating with teams and clients across different time zones.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and Project.
• Overall, 7 to 12 years of IT experience.
• Knowledge of other e-commerce platforms such as Magento, BigCommerce, and CommerceTools will be preferred.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Vue.js, React.js, and Ruby/Ruby on Rails for creating apps or scheduler jobs.
• Good understanding of the functionalities and features provided by Shopify.
• Experience with custom apps and integrations available in Shopify.
• Strong knowledge of Liquid template language.
• Strong hands-on experience in customizing Shopify themes.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Node.js or PHP frameworks like Laravel and Express.js, as well as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Experience with implementing and debugging Shopify apps, as well as creating custom extensions.
• Experience with Shopify objects/properties, REST API, webhooks, and metafields.
• Clear understanding of Shopify concepts.

Desirable Experience & Knowledge

• Shopify Certification.
