Shift Incharge Mining

Purpose/Objective

To supervise and manage all mining activities during the assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and statutory-compliant coal production operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for manpower deployment, equipment utilization, safety compliance, and achievement of production targets as per the approved mine plan.

- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, HEMM, contractors, and other mining resources.
- Monitor drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, transportation, and dumping activities.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and minimize downtime.
- Maintain shift-wise production records and submit daily reports.
Safety & Statutory Compliance - Ensure compliance with the Mines Act, Coal Mines Regulations (CMR), DGMS guidelines, and company safety policies.
- Conduct workplace inspections and identify hazardous conditions.
- Ensure implementation of safe mining practices and risk control measures.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts reported during the shift.
- Conduct tool-box talks and safety briefings before commencement of work.
Team Management - Supervise mining supervisors, operators, and contract workmen during the shift.
- Allocate duties and monitor workforce productivity.
- Ensure discipline and adherence to operational procedures.
- Guide and train shift personnel on safety and operational best practices.
Documentation & Reporting - Maintain statutory records, shift logs, and production reports.
- Report deviations, accidents, equipment breakdowns, and operational issues to management.
- Ensure proper handover of shift status to the incoming Shift Incharge.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institute.
Experience: 3 to 10 years of experience in Open Cast or Underground Coal Mining operations.
Second Class Manager's Certificate of Competency (Coal) issued by DGMS is mandatory.
