Shift Engineer / Shop Floor Supervisor with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, specifically customized for a drum closure manufacturing unit utilizing press machines and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) such as Thread Rolling, Height facing, spot welding, etc. at Murbad.

Job Description

• Production Planning & Execution: Drive daily production planning and execution control to consistently hit shift targets for drum closure manufacturing.
• Shop Floor Management: Organize, monitor, and control the press machine shop floor, SPM machine floor, tool setup, and assembly areas. Delegate tasks to technicians regarding working procedures, raw materials, tooling, and progressive dies to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Provide active technical support to shop floor technicians by smoothly coordinating with Quality Control, and Tooling/Design departments to eliminate material or operational delays.
• KPI Monitoring & Problem Solving: Continually monitor and record key performance indicators (KPIs) for the assigned assembly and press groups. Proactively initiate corrective actions to resolve or avoid technical or volume bottlenecks.
• Team Communication & Alignment: Conduct regular toolbox and shift meetings with team members. Discuss the active status of production operations and give clear, constructive feedback to technicians regarding safety and quality issues.
• Training & Development: Plan, assign, and actively assist in the technical training and development of shop floor technicians. Track team progress by maintaining and updating the skills matrix and career development plans.
• Continuous Improvement: Organize, lead, and execute targeted Kaizen, 5S, and lean manufacturing improvement projects to optimize metal stamping and SPM processes.
• ISO Audit Compliance: Seamlessly handle internal and external ISO audits by ensuring robust documentation, standardized work processes, and mandatory employee training compliance.
• Productivity Tracking: Track input man-hours against output manufacturing man-hours to compile and release accurate monthly productivity figures for the responsible assembly and press group.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Typically 4–6 years of hands-on experience in a directly related field, successfully demonstrating key shop floor leadership responsibilities. A proven track record in a high-volume precision engineering or sheet metal manufacturing industry is a key advantage.

Job Profile & Competencies

• Language Proficiency: Must possess professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English, Hindi, and Marathi to communicate and interact effectively as a leader for the assigned Murbad production area.
• Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Sound knowledge of factory environmental health and safety regulations, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), press safety guarding, and safe material handling procedures.
• Lean Manufacturing: Solid understanding of lean principles, waste elimination, 5S shop floor management, and continuous process optimization.
• Computer Literacy: Strong baseline knowledge of computers and office productivity programs, specifically spreadsheet software (Excel for man-hour tracking and metrics) and presentation software.
• Core Technical Expertise: In-depth working knowledge of the Press Machine Department (handling mechanical/hydraulic stamping presses, progressive dies) and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) used for drum closure.
