Shade Matcher

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shade Matcher to join our QC team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for matching and developing shades for tile grouts, epoxy, 2k & 3k components ensuring color accuracy, consistency, and quality standards. The role requires expertise in color matching techniques, pigment adjustments, and coordination with production and quality teams to achieve customer-approved shades.

Key Responsibilities

1. Match solid color shades as per customer samples, standards, and product specifications according to shade cards.

2. Perform shade matching, color correction, and formulation adjustments using pigments, toners, to achieve the desired color.

3. Conduct laboratory trials, color evaluations, and quality checks using visual assessment techniques and color spectrophotometers.

4. Ensure batch-to-batch color consistency during production and take corrective actions to address shade variations.

5. Coordinate closely with Production, Quality Control, and R&D teams for shade approvals, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

6. Maintain shade libraries, formulation records, and technical documentation for reference and traceability.

7. Investigate shade-related issues, analyze root causes, and provide quick and effective solutions to meet production and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• B.Sc in Chemistry or Diploma in Paint Technology or Any Graduate
• Relevant experience in shade matching within the paints, coatings, or allied chemical industry is mandatory.
• Experience in construction chemicals, decorative paints and industrial coatings will be an added advantage.

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience with shade matching tools, color spectrophotometers, and color measurement equipment.
• Strong knowledge of pigments chemistry, toners, resins, and paint/coating formulations.
• Expertise in color matching techniques, color correction, and visual color evaluation.
• Good understanding of shade variation, tinting methods, color harmony, and flop effect.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shade approvals within tight timelines.
• Good communication and coordination skills for working with cross-functional teams.
• High level of accuracy, consistency, and commitment to quality standards.
