Job Description

We are looking for a proactive Server Support L1 / Data Center Operations Engineer to manage day-to-day physical data center operations, server and hardware monitoring, asset inventory, connectivity checks, and vendor coordination.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in data center support, physical server handling, hardware monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform physical data center operations, including rack access, temperature monitoring, and data center hygiene.
• Monitor server and network device status, physical LEDs, alarms, and indicators; report amber LED alerts and coordinate with relevant support teams.
• Perform authorized server rebooting, power cycling, and basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Check physical network connectivity, cabling, and console port connections for remote device management.
• Troubleshoot frozen remote sessions and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate technical teams.
• Maintain and update server inventory, rack diagrams, cabling details, power circuits, and data circuits in the designated portal.
• Manage inward and outward movement of IT assets, maintain records, and coordinate with asset management teams.
• Verify Bill of Materials (BOM) and assist vendors with device mounting and installation activities.
• Review equipment movement documentation and follow approved data center access and change procedures.
• Issue gate passes, escort authorized vendors, and coordinate data center activities.
• Raise and follow up on tickets with data center service providers for facility-related issues and cross-connect requirements.
• Coordinate data center cabling activities with vendors and internal teams.
• Update device records and purchase order details in SMART or similar tools.
• Follow Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes, operational procedures, and escalation matrices.
• Coordinate with server, network, asset management, and data center teams until issues are resolved.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of servers, computer hardware, and data center operations.
• Hands-on exposure to physical server handling, rebooting, and power cycling.
• Knowledge of rack management, server LEDs, cabling, and physical network connectivity.
• Basic understanding of LAN connectivity, console ports, and remote management.
• Experience in asset inventory management and data center documentation.
• Basic knowledge of incident logging, ticketing, escalation, and change management.
• Good communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
