Team Platform Engineering

Grade Service Line Information Technology services the broader Firm through delivery of core technology and managed services capabilities, collaboration and innovation development services and building our Alliances network.

Job Description The Team Cloud Engineering supports the firm by delivering modern platform capabilities, observability services, and engineering enablement across distributed systems. The Platform Engineering team designs, builds, and maintains the cloud-native platform capabilities that enable engineering teams across the organisation. The platform is treated as an internal product, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliable foundations, reusable modules, and developer‑friendly tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership Provide guidance on platform patterns, module structure, CI/CD design, and cloud-native architecture.
• Review designs, PRs and IaC contributions from Engineers, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Cloud Platform Architecture & IaC Design and own foundational IaC modules and templates, ensuring versioning, testing, documentation, and maintainability.
• Develop scalable patterns for networking, identity, compute/container runtimes, image registries, secrets and policies.
• DevOps Engineering Engineer reusable pipeline templates, security gates, environment promotion rules, and workflow automation.
• Improve deployment reliability, repeatability, and developer experience.
• Platform Development Build internal developer tooling, reusable components, platform accelerators, and golden paths.
• Enhance platform automation frameworks to support self‑service capabilities.
• Agile Delivery & Collaboration Lead technical spikes, refinement sessions, and design discussions.
• Collaborate closely with other platform teams (Observability, Security, Service Management) to deliver end‑to‑end platform capabilities.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders to become a trusted partner.

• Participate in on‑call rotations to support high‑severity incidents resolution in a timely manner.

The Person

• Strong hands‑on experience with Terraform, including module development, refactoring, and reusable patterns.
• Proficient in one or more scripting/programming languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for advanced automation tasks.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, templating, approvals, reusable pipeline components, and environment promotion workflows.
• Solid experience working with container platforms (AKS/EKS): networking, ingress, registries, scaling, workload identity.
• Strong grasp of cloud identity & access management (RBAC models, managed identities, least‑privilege patterns).
• Knowledge in cloud networking for enterprise use (routing, private endpoints, NAT, DNS architecture).
• Practical understanding of security fundamentals (secrets management, encryption, policy compliance).
• Ability to translate platform needs into scalable, modular IaC and DevOps improvements.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills for complex distributed systems.
• Demonstrates ownership, problem‑solving ability, and commitment to raising engineering standards.
