Position: Senior Manager Utility & Maintenance

Reporting To: Engineering Head / Utility Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager - Utility & Maintenance to lead utility operations and maintenance activities across the brewery. The role is responsible for ensuring reliable utility supply, maximizing equipment uptime, driving preventive maintenance compliance, managing maintenance budgets, statutory compliance, spare parts management, and engineering projects.

The incumbent will play a key role in enhancing plant efficiency, ensuring safe operations, and supporting brewing and process operations through effective maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Utility Operations & Maintenance

• Lead the operation and maintenance of utility systems including:
• Refrigeration Plants
• Boilers
• DG Sets
• Compressed Air Systems
• CO Plants
• Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
• Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
• Waste Water Recovery Treatment Plant (WWRTP)
• Ensure uninterrupted utility availability to support manufacturing operations.
• Monitor utility performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance Management

• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure maintenance compliance and achieve targeted equipment uptime.
• Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct condition monitoring and root cause analysis using TPM and 5-Why methodologies.
• Reduce breakdowns and improve equipment reliability.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• Maintain critical spare parts inventory for utility and process equipment.
• Identify and procure required spares in coordination with Procurement.
• Optimize inventory levels while ensuring operational reliability.

Brewing Process Equipment Support

• Support maintenance and reliability of brewing and process equipment.
• Coordinate with Brewing, QA, and Production teams for planned shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Ensure timely execution of maintenance schedules to minimize production losses.

Budget & Cost Control

• Manage Repair & Maintenance (R&M) budgets.
• Track maintenance expenditure against approved budgets.
• Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising operational efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure 100% compliance with Factory Act, Boiler Regulations, Electricity Rules, Pollution Control norms, and other applicable statutory requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities as required.
• Ensure adherence to company health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices across all maintenance activities.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain maintenance records, logs, reports, and statutory documentation.
• Prepare and present maintenance KPIs, breakdown analysis, and performance reports.
• Ensure accurate reporting and data management through ERP systems.

People Management

• Lead and develop a team of 21 maintenance professionals.
• Drive performance management, capability building, and employee engagement.
• Ensure effective manpower planning and resource utilization.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Experience

• 15-20 years of experience in utility operations and maintenance within FMCG, Brewery, Beverage, Food Processing, Manufacturing, or Process Industries.
• Experience in managing utility plants, maintenance teams, and statutory compliance is essential.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Strong knowledge of boiler, refrigeration, compressed air, water treatment, and power systems.
• Proven experience in driving maintenance excellence and uptime improvements.
• Hands-on experience in TPM, preventive maintenance planning, and shutdown management.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems and maintenance management software.
