Senior Test Automation Engineer

Job Title- Java Developer with QA Automation (SDET).

Location- Pune | Hybrid.

Reports To- Engineering Manager / Team Lead.

Primary Skills- Java 8 & J2EE, Selenium / Playwright, API Testing, JUnit / TestNG, SQL & CI/CD.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who combines full-stack Java development expertise with strong test automation capabilities. The role involves developing and maintaining enterprise applications while owning automated testing across UI, API, and data layers.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing feature development with building and maintaining automated test coverage. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), regulated industries, manufacturing, life sciences, or formula-based product environments is highly desirable.

• Develop and maintain enterprise application features using Java 8 and Java EE/J2EE within an MVC architecture.
• Work with Servlets, EJBs, DAOs, DTOs, JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, and SQL.
• Build and consume REST APIs using Jersey / JAX-RS.
• Support applications deployed on WildFly, JBoss, Apache TomEE, or similar application servers.
• Work across MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, DocumentDB, and Neo4j.
• Maintain and enhance web interfaces using jQuery, Bootstrap, and DataTables.

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering UI, REST APIs, backend, and data layers.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or similar tools.
• Write and maintain automated tests using JUnit or TestNG.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain appropriate test data across application databases.
• Perform manual and exploratory testing where automation is not yet available.
• Triage, document, and troubleshoot defects while collaborating with developers on root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Partner with Product, Development, and QA teams to define acceptance criteria, test plans, and quality gates.
• Troubleshoot application, database, integration, and automation issues.
• Follow appropriate security and data-handling practices for customer, product, and regulatory information.

• Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food & beverage, cosmetics, or manufacturing.
• Experience with formula, recipe, ingredient, product specification, or regulatory data.
• Performance/load testing using JMeter or similar tools.
• BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
• Exposure to AWS RDS, DocumentDB, Neo4j, or AWS-hosted applications.
• Experience with WildFly, JBoss, TomEE, or similar Java application servers.
• Experience maintaining or modernizing mature enterprise Java applications.

• Move effectively between feature development and automated test development.
• Build test coverage that reflects real product, regulatory, and customer-data risks.
• Understand existing enterprise architecture and contribute without unnecessary disruption.
• Balance automation investment with manual and exploratory testing where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot issues across application, database, API, and automation layers.
• Act as a quality advocate while maintaining delivery velocity.
• Adapt quickly to new business domains and technical environments.
