About the Role

Arya Communication is looking for a senior technical professional to lead the design, development and manufacturing of Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) products, including handheld, mobile/vehicular and repeater platforms. The role covers the full product lifecycle, from architecture and design through software development on embedded Linux, certification and volume production. It suits someone with strong hands-on depth in radio communication systems and Linux-based embedded software, ideally gained in defence, PSU or strategic electronics environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of DMR products (ETSI Tier I/II/III), from requirements and system architecture through prototyping, validation and production release.
• Drive RF and baseband hardware design, including VHF/UHF transceivers, power amplifiers, synthesizers, filters and antenna interfaces.
• Lead embedded Linux software development for DMR platforms, including board bring-up, bootloader (U-Boot) configuration, kernel customization, device driver development, and building root file systems using Yocto or Build root.
• Oversee firmware and DSP development, covering the DMR protocol stack, vocoder integration, encryption, and analog/digital dual-mode operation.
• Develop and integrate Linux-based applications and services for repeaters, dispatch consoles and network management, including IP networking, inter-site connectivity and remote configuration/OTA update features.
• Own New Product Introduction (NPI) and the move to manufacturing: DFM/DFT, Linux-based test automation and ATE development, process documentation, and yield improvement.
• Manage product certification and compliance, including WPC/ETA, TEC, EMI/EMC, and environmental qualification to MIL-STD / JSS 55555 where applicable.
• Support indigenisation, BOM optimisation, component obsolescence management and vendor/EMS partner development.
• Act as technical interface with defence, government and enterprise customers, including support for tenders, technical evaluations and field trials.
• Build, mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team of RF, hardware, Linux/firmware and test engineers.
• Ensure quality systems compliance (ISO 9001 / AS9100) and support DGQA/STQC inspections as required.

Required Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 10 to 25 years of experience in radio communication product development, with at least 5 years specifically on DMR, TETRA, P25 or tactical/software-defined radios.
• Strong hands-on experience with embedded Linux: kernel and driver development, Yocto/Buildroot, cross-compilation toolchains, shell scripting, and C/C++ programming.
• Working knowledge of Linux networking (TCP/IP, socket programming, VoIP/RTP) as applied to radio and repeater systems.
• Proven track record of taking at least one radio product from design to volume manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of RF test equipment, such as radio communication test sets, spectrum and network analysers, and signal generators.
• Experience leading teams and managing technical programs with defined timelines.

Preferred Background

• Exposure to SDR frameworks (such as GNU Radio) and processor platforms commonly used in radios, such as ARM Cortex-A/M, TI OMAP/Sitara, NXP i.MX or Xilinx Zynq.
• Familiarity with Linux security hardening, secure boot, and encryption implementation for defence-grade communication products.
• Familiarity with Indian defence procurement processes and certification bodies.
