We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Systems Engineer with a strong background in the aerospace industry to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in software systems engineering, including expertise in systems documentation, integration, Software Requirements Definition (SRD), verification and validation processes, and a thorough understanding of both the V-Model and Agile development methodologies. A solid understanding of RTCA DO-178C standards for aerospace software certification is essential. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop, document, integrate, and validate mission-critical software systems while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Systems Engineer with a strong background in the aerospace industry to join our engineering team.

Responsibilities Requirements Development & Documentation

• Develop and document system and software requirements, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and regulatory standards.
• Create and maintain detailed Software Requirements Documentation (SRD).
• Lead requirements traceability activities, ensuring complete coverage from development through verification and validation.

Systems Integration

• Oversee the integration of complex software systems within aerospace and defence platforms.
• Ensure seamless communication and functionality across multiple subsystems.
• Conduct system integration testing, evaluate results, and drive issue resolution where necessary.

Verification & Validation

• Lead verification and validation activities to ensure software meets design specifications and safety requirements.
• Apply the V-Model approach to system and software testing.
• Document testing outcomes and analysis results in accordance with RTCA DO-178C standards.

Agile Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with software engineers, systems engineers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to planning, execution, and delivery activities.
• Support the effective management of project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.

Regulatory Compliance & Certification

• Ensure software development activities comply with RTCA DO-178C guidelines and aerospace certification requirements.
• Support audits, certification reviews, and regulatory compliance assessments.
• Contribute to safety and quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Act as a technical lead on software engineering projects.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
• Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, code reviews, and system audits to maintain engineering excellence.

Qualifications Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software systems engineering within the aerospace or defence sectors.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge and practical experience with V-Model and Agile software development methodologies.
• Extensive experience working with RTCA DO-178C standards.
• Proven expertise in software requirements development, systems documentation, and verification & validation processes.
• Experience with systems integration activities within mission-critical environments.

Required Skills

• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
• Familiarity with aerospace software programming languages including C, C++, and Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both collaborative and independent environments.
