Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our engineering team and play a key role in building and scaling Cimba's platform. As an SDE 2 you will take ownership of complex technical problems, design and build scalable systems, and work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality features. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging problems at the intersection of AI, data, automation, and enterprise software. This is a high-ownership role where you will be expected to contribute to technical decisions, drive projects end-to-end, and help establish strong engineering practices as the company scales.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy reliable and scalable software components.
• Own features and projects end-to-end, from technical design through implementation and production.
• Build APIs, services, and backend systems that power Cimba's enterprise platform.
• Work on data-intensive and AI-powered product experiences.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and make thoughtful engineering trade-offs.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code.
• Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges.
• Debug production issues and contribute to improving system observability and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and help raise the overall technical bar of the team.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt better tools, technologies, and engineering practices.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade applications.
• Strong programming and computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing and building scalable backend services and APIs.
• Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Experience working with distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
• Familiarity with software development best practices, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently take ownership of ambiguous technical problems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A product-oriented mindset with a strong focus on building reliable solutions that deliver customer value.

Good to Have:

• Experience working with AI/ML-powered products or LLM applications.
• Experience with data platforms, analytics, BI, or data-intensive applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience building event-driven or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with modern AI application patterns such as RAG, vector databases, LLM orchestration, or agentic workflows.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or high-growth product environment.
