About this role
We're hiring a Core Java Engineer to build a complex payment product for the US market. If you're a real coder, someone who learned the craft by building products from the ground up, read on. Pivotrics is a product engineering company in the payments space. We build our own products and partner with select companies to build theirs, backed by three decades of collective experience in payment systems. We're programmers at heart, and we measure ourselves by one thing: mastery of the craft.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and enhance features on a sophisticated payment product for the US market.
- Break down complex, high-level requirements into clear, implementable designs.
- Run gap analysis on existing features and find ways to strengthen, extend, and innovate.
- Write production-grade Core Java with real attention to performance and reliability.
- Work close to the metal on Unix/Linux, comfortable in the shell and diagnosing real-world issues.
- Own features end-to-end, from requirement to release.
Requirements:
- 3-6 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- A genuine coder who built their skills shipping features and products from scratch.
- Strong command of Core Java and solid CS fundamentals.
- Practical, hands-on Unix/Linux experience.
- Strong analytical ability to decompose hard problems and connect code to product outcomes.
- A bias toward quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Nice to Have:
- Payments domain exposure (EMV, POS, payment gateways, card processing, loyalty, petro retail).
- Good to have Spring Boot, reactive programming, or distributed systems.
- Experience building for the US or other global markets.
