Senior Software Developer II

As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II), you will design, build, and maintain scalable, high-throughput backend applications and services. You will take end-to-end ownership of software components, contribute to High-Level and Low-Level system designs, build and optimise algorithms, and interface with distributed streaming platforms, databases, APIs, and modern deployment environments. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently own technical deliverables while collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Own and work end-to-end on applications, covering the server, deployment, configuration management, backend application, containers, and database.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend applications and services.
• Write efficient, readable, maintainable, and testable code.
• Design High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) based on user and business requirements.
• Develop web applications, web services, desktop applications, and Windows services as required.
• Develop, implement, profile, and optimise algorithms for backend software.
• Work with microservice-based applications and REST-based APIs.
• Work with distributed message streaming architectures (such as Apache Kafka).
• Work with relational databases and develop efficient SQL queries.
• Contribute to build and configuration management processes.
• Follow software development best practices, including version control, testing, and code quality.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.

Requirements:

• B. E. / B. Tech. / M. E. / M. Tech. in Computer Science from a Tier 1 / Tier 2 premier institute.
• 2-5 years of relevant software development experience with demonstrated problem-solving skills (Product- based companies or fast-scaling tech startups strongly preferred).
• Strong backend development experience across C++, Java, or Python.
• Hands-on experience working with distributed streaming/messaging platforms (Apache Kafka).
• Development experience using a microservice platform/architecture.
• Experience working with REST-based API integration.
• Good RDBMS and SQL skills.
• Good understanding of: Object-oriented design, Design patterns, and Software development frameworks.
• Experience in algorithmic development.
• Good understanding of version control systems (Git).
• Strong end-to-end ownership mindset and ability to independently drive deliverables.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels.

Good to Have:

• Familiarity or exposure to Erlang or Elixir (or strong willingness to learn).
• Exposure to databases and associated technologies such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud-based deployment environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of developing scripts using Python and Shell.
• Knowledge of working with time-series databases, such as InfluxDB.
