About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Secured Lending Underwriter for the Asset Based Lending team part of Commercial Banking Group.
Responsibilities - Participate in underwriting and loan closing of transactions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within scope of responsibilities for Secured Lending Underwriting functional area
- Review and analyze basic business challenges within Secured Lending Underwriting functional area that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives
- Exercise independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables
- Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise in Secured Lending Underwriting functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with Secured Lending Underwriting colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders, including internal and external customers
- 4+ years of secured lending underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Experience with underwriting platforms, loan origination systems, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros).
- Gen AI Tools
- Education: Master's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CFA/FRM preferred.
- 4+ years in credit underwriting or portfolio management within commercial or secured lending.
- Proven track record of handling complex transactions and high-value deals.
- Deliver accurate credit decisions within agreed turnaround times.
- Maintain portfolio quality and adhere to risk overlays.
- Ensure compliance to policies and regulations
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and support process improvements.
- Integrity, sound judgment, and collaborative mindset.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
