Senior SDET - Backend Tester

We are looking for an experienced Senior SDET - Backend Tester with 4-6 years of experience in backend testing, API automation, and test framework development. The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills, hands-on experience with API testing, and a solid understanding of microservices architecture, databases, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for backend services and APIs.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of backend applications.
• Develop and execute API automation scripts using Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Test REST APIs and validate request/response payloads, status codes, headers, and business logic.
• Work with microservices-based architectures and validate service-to-service communication.
• Perform database testing using SQL queries to validate data integrity and business workflows.
• Identify, report, track, and troubleshoot defects in collaboration with developers and product teams.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
• Conduct performance, reliability, and scalability testing wherever required.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and other QA professionals to improve product quality.

Requirements:

• Experience: 4-6 years in software testing, with strong backend testing and automation experience.
• Programming: Strong proficiency in Java or Python.
• API Testing: Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent tools.
• Automation Frameworks: Experience building or maintaining API automation frameworks.
• Database Testing: Good knowledge of SQL queries, joins, and data validation.
• Backend Architecture: Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and asynchronous processing.
• Tools: Experience with Git, Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools, and test management or defect tracking tools such as Jira.
• Testing Fundamentals: Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Debugging: Ability to investigate failures, analyse logs, and identify root causes.

Good to Have:

• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
• Experience testing high-volume, transaction-heavy systems.
• Familiarity with e-commerce, food-tech, logistics, or payment-related platforms.
