Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior SAP ABAP Developer with strong hands-on expertise in complex ABAP development, performance tuning, debugging, integrations, and modern SAP technologies. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in troubleshooting and optimizing ABAP programs, working with BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, SAP BTP, and supporting business-critical SAP applications.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, debugging, enhancing, and optimizing SAP solutions while working closely with functional teams and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex SAP ABAP programs and custom applications.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and technically robust ABAP solutions.
• Develop and maintain Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows (RICEFW).
• Develop complex ABAP Objects using Object-Oriented ABAP principles.
• Work extensively with ABAP Reports, ALV, Smart Forms, Adobe Forms, BAdIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, Enhancement Framework, and BADIs.
• Develop and troubleshoot BAPIs, RFCs, Function Modules, IDocs, and integration interfaces.
• Perform detailed ABAP debugging to identify and resolve functional and technical issues.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across standard SAP programs and custom developments.
• Perform performance tuning and optimization of ABAP programs, SQL queries, database accesses, and long-running jobs.
• Analyze performance using tools such as ST05, SAT/SE30, ST12, SQL Monitor, Code Inspector, and ATC.
• Optimize inefficient Open SQL statements, joins, nested loops, database accesses, and internal table processing.
• Review and improve existing custom ABAP code to meet performance, scalability, and coding standards.
• Debug and troubleshoot BAPI-based integrations and SAP-to-external system interfaces.
• Work with SAP BTP components and troubleshoot/debug ABAP-based integrations and applications deployed or integrated through BTP.
• Support integration scenarios involving APIs, OData, REST, SOAP, RFC, and BAPI.
• Develop and consume OData services and support API-based integrations where required.
• Work on CDS Views, AMDP, and modern ABAP programming in SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Analyze and resolve production issues within agreed SLAs.
• Participate in technical design, code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment activities.
• Prepare technical specifications and development documentation.
• Collaborate with SAP Functional Consultants, Basis teams, integration teams, and business stakeholders.
• Support SAP S/4HANA migration, enhancements, upgrades, and implementation projects.
• Follow SAP development standards, naming conventions, performance guidelines, and secure coding practices.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Strong experience in complex ABAP programming and debugging.
• Excellent knowledge of ABAP Objects / Object-Oriented ABAP.

• Experience with CDS Views and AMDP.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with ABAP on HANA.
• Experience with RAP (RESTful Application Programming Model).
• Knowledge of SAP Fiori / UI5 integration.
• Experience with SAP BTP ABAP Environment / Steampunk.
• Experience with BTP Integration Suite.
• Knowledge of API Management and event-driven integrations.
• Experience with Git / CI-CD / DevOps practices.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA migration or transformation projects.
• Experience working in large-scale global SAP environments.

Performance Tuning Expertise

The candidate should have strong practical experience in identifying and resolving ABAP performance issues, including:

• SQL performance analysis and optimization.
• Database access optimization.
• Internal table optimization.
• Eliminating unnecessary nested loops.
• Efficient use of joins and database operations.
• Optimizing long-running reports and batch jobs.
• Identifying performance bottlenecks using ST05, ST12, SAT/SE30 and SQL Monitor.
• ATC/code quality analysis.
• HANA-specific performance optimization.

Integration & Debugging Expertise

The candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting complex integration scenarios involving:

SAP ABAP → BAPI/RFC → Middleware/BTP → External Systems

Experience should include debugging:
