Senior Revenue Analyst

About the Role

We are a SaaS business with recurring subscription revenue, usage-based fees and multi-year contracts. This role owns revenue accounting and the analysis behind the reported revenue number.The core of the job is the contract-to-revenue chain: work out what revenue a contract should produce in a period, compare it to what was actually billed and recognised, and explain every difference with a quantified, written conclusion. Invoice processing sits with the billing team. You will review billing output as an input to your analysis, but this is an accounting and analysis role, not an invoicing role.

What You Will Do

• Read executed contracts, order forms and amendments and translate the commercial terms into an expected revenue and billing profile by period, covering contract value, ramp steps, annual escalations, usage tiers and minimum commitments, service start and end dates, billing frequency, pro-ration and renewal mechanics.
• Investigate every difference between expected and actual and classify the root cause: contract set-up error, missed escalation or ramp step, usage below or above committed minimum, un-invoiced renewal, expired discount still being applied, credit or concession, billing cut-off or timing, cancellation or downgrade, or a legitimate recognition-timing difference.
• Build the revenue bridge that explains the period movement across new business, expansion, contraction, churn, price and escalation, usage, one-time fees and timing.
• Prepare the monthly revenue variance analysis: actual versus contracted or expected, versus budget and forecast.
• Present conclusions to the Financial Controller and support the pack reviewed by the VP of Finance, with the ability to defend any figure down to the underlying contract and journal entry.
• Apply ASC 606 across subscription, usage, services and one-time fees; maintain contract-level revenue and deferred revenue schedules and the deferred revenue roll-forward.
• Prepare revenue, deferred revenue and unbilled journal entries, reconcile billing system to sub-ledger to general ledger, and deliver assigned close tasks on calendar.
• Report and explain ARR, MRR, net revenue retention, churn and expansion, and maintain the revenue reporting pack and dashboards.
• Support internal and external audit on revenue.

What We Are Looking For

• 
  3 to 5 years in revenue accounting, revenue analysis or financial reporting, preferably in SaaS, technology or another subscription business.
• Working knowledge of ASC 606: performance obligations, allocation, over-time versus point-in-time, variable consideration and contract modifications.
• Proven ability to read a commercial contract and derive the expected revenue profile from it.
• Solid month-end close experience owning schedules, journal entries and reconciliations end to end.
• Advanced Excel, including PivotTables, lookups, SUMIFS and Power Query on large data sets.
• Experience with an ERP and a billing platform such as NetSuite, Salesforce and ZAB and AI tools for finance like Claude.
