About this role
Company: Peko Technologies Private Limited
Designation: Senior QA Engineer
Location / Work Mode: Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir —
100% On-site Experience: 4–8 years
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Engineering / Quality Assurance
About Peko Peko is a UAE-headquartered fintech, backed by International Holding Company (IHC), building an all-in-one platform that helps businesses manage payments, expenses, travel, and other operations from a single place. Peko Technologies Private Limited is growing its Engineering team in Srinagar and is looking for an experienced QA professional to help strengthen quality and testing practices as the platform scales.
Role Overview We are looking for a
Senior QA Engineer with strong hands-on test automation experience to take ownership of quality across our product development lifecycle. This role goes beyond executing test cases — you will help define test strategy, build and maintain automation frameworks, and drive release quality in close collaboration with engineering and product teams. We're looking for someone who can operate independently, make sound quality decisions, and raise the technical bar for testing practices within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable test automation frameworks for web and API testing.
- Own the test strategy and test planning for assigned features and releases, including functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
- Build and execute automated test suites using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium, integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and execute API test suites covering REST APIs, HTTP methods, and JSON/XML payloads.
- Write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and support database-level testing.
- Analyze test results, triage defects, and drive root-cause analysis in collaboration with development teams.
- Define and track test coverage, quality metrics, and release readiness criteria.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing QA input to sprint planning, estimation, and grooming.
- Continuously improve QA processes, tooling, and automation coverage across the product.
- Mentor junior QA engineers on automation practices, test design, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps to embed quality earlier in the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Tech Skills
- 4–8 years of professional experience in QA/software testing.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks (not just using existing ones).
- Strong programming/scripting ability in at least one of: Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Practical experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or equivalent.
- Solid experience in API testing, including REST APIs, HTTP methods, and JSON/XML.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience with database testing.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology.
- Proven ability to design test strategies, write clear test plans and test cases, and drive test coverage and release validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in defect tracking and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with performance/load testing.
- Experience testing fintech, payments, SaaS, or other transaction-based applications.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with Docker or containerized environments.
- Working knowledge of security testing principles.
- Experience building an automation framework from scratch for a product or team.
What we're looking for We're prioritizing strong QA fundamentals over checklist-matching on every tool. Candidates should demonstrate:
- Genuine hands-on automation ownership — building, scaling, and maintaining frameworks, not just running pre-existing scripts.
- Sound programming and problem-solving ability applied to testing challenges.
- A strategic mindset toward quality — thinking in terms of coverage, risk, and release confidence, not just individual test cases.
- Comfort operating independently in an on-site, collaborative engineering environment.
- The maturity to mentor others and influence QA practices across the team.
Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to take real ownership of quality strategy and automation for a growing fintech engineering team, working on-site in Srinagar with direct influence over how testing practices are built and scaled.
