Summary

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading planning, execution, and delivery of technology initiatives across Product Engineering, Integrations, Data, ERP, Infrastructure, and Field Operations platforms. This role is the department s Smartsheet authority and delivery governance owner. In addition to traditional project management responsibilities, the Senior Project Manager ensures that every project team is performing to expectations, following established governance, and complying with departmental standards and SOX-aligned documentation requirements. The role combines project management rigor with strong stakeholder communication, proactive performance oversight, and a disciplined approach to execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Lead end-to-end delivery of technology projects across multiple domains, from initiation through closure.
- Serve as the Smartsheet subject matter expert: design, build, and maintain project plans, WBS, dependency trackers, resource views, reports, dashboards, and automated workflows.
- Define, publish, and enforce standard Smartsheet templates, naming conventions, and data-quality rules so all teams plan and report work consistently.
- Monitor the performance of all project teams against schedule, scope, budget, and quality targets; identify underperformance early and drive corrective action plans.
- Ensure all teams follow departmental governance, including stage gates, readiness reviews, change control, approvals, and documentation standards.
- Conduct recurring compliance and health checks on project artifacts and team practices; report gaps, assign owners, and track remediation to closure.
- Ensure SOX-aligned project documentation, readiness gates, approvals, and audit compliance; act as the project point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Manage scope, timeline, budget, risks, issues, RAID logs, and resource plans across a portfolio of concurrent projects.
- Produce weekly RAG status reports, portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and executive summaries with clear visibility into team performance and compliance status.
- Escalate risks, delivery gaps, and non-compliance to leadership with recommended actions and clear accountability.
- Facilitate or oversee Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, grooming, retrospectives) where teams use Agile or hybrid delivery, and partner with Product Owners on a prioritized backlog and clear acceptance criteria.
- Track delivery metrics such as velocity, throughput, burndown, schedule variance, and predictability, and use them to coach teams toward improvement.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Security, DevSecOps, Architecture, Finance, and Business stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery, governance, and project management maturity; recommend updates to departmental standards and train teams and junior project managers on tools and process.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not include direct people management but provides delivery leadership across pods, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for holding teams to departmental governance and compliance standards and for escalating performance concerns to leadership.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 8-12 years of progressive project management experience in technology environments, including managing multiple concurrent projects. Minimum 4 years of advanced, hands-on Smartsheet experience (e.g., dashboards, reports, automations, templates, and portfolio roll-ups). Demonstrated experience enforcing governance and compliance standards across multiple teams, including SOX-aligned or similar audit-controlled environments.

Language Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate performance and compliance concerns to all levels of the organization. Experience with waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery, SOX-aligned project documentation, governance frameworks, cross-functional delivery, and RAID log management.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to evaluate estimates, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.

Reasoning Ability

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to identify performance and compliance trends from project data.

Computer Skills

Expert-level proficiency in Smartsheet (including dashboards, reports, automations, and templates); proficiency in Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and reporting tools.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

PMP required; Smartsheet certification (e.g., Smartsheet Certified Project Manager or Platform Expert) strongly preferred. CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or similar certifications preferred.
