This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Project Manager / Chef de projet principal, Early Phase and Translational Research based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex clinical research programs across early phase and translational research environments. You will oversee international and multi-site clinical trials, ensuring successful delivery across timelines, budgets, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations. As a senior project leader, you will serve as a strategic partner to sponsors, clinical teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders. The position combines scientific expertise, operational leadership, and team mentorship within a collaborative remote environment. You will contribute to advancing innovative therapies by managing high-impact studies and driving excellence in clinical trial execution. Accountabilities:: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of assigned clinical trials, ensuring successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout. The role requires strong leadership across project teams, proactive risk management, and the ability to maintain high-quality delivery while managing complex stakeholder relationships.

Serve as the primary point of contact for sponsors, clinical sites, CRAs, vendors, and internal project teams throughout the study lifecycle.

Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of domestic, regional, and international clinical trials.

Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, quality requirements, and stakeholder expectations.

Oversee operational activities including site selection, study startup, vendor coordination, recruitment tracking, and trial milestone management.

Develop and maintain project plans, performance indicators, risk mitigation strategies, and progress reports.

Monitor financial performance, review project budgets, identify out-of-scope activities, and support change management processes.

Ensure studies remain audit-ready through proper documentation, training oversight, quality controls, and Trial Master File (TMF) management.

Lead client meetings, internal working groups, vendor updates, and cross-functional discussions while ensuring effective communication and follow-up.

Identify project risks, resolve issues proactively, and escalate challenges when appropriate.

Ensure clinical deliverables meet regulatory, sponsor, and quality expectations, including compliance with SOPs, GCP, ICH guidelines, and applicable regulations.

Collaborate with regulatory, data management, and clinical teams to support submissions, data review, monitoring activities, and database milestones.

Mentor project managers and team members while contributing to departmental training, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.

Support business development activities through scientific, therapeutic, and project management expertise.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced clinical research project leader with strong knowledge of drug development, clinical trial operations, and global project management. You should combine strategic thinking, financial accountability, and excellent communication skills to successfully manage complex research programs.

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field related to clinical research or healthcare.

Minimum of 7 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years managing Phase I–III clinical trials with financial responsibility.

Experience leading concurrent multi-centre and multinational clinical trials with significant budgets.

Strong knowledge of clinical development processes, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH standards, Health Canada requirements, and FDA regulations.

Proven experience managing project timelines, budgets, resources, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Experience with study startup, regulatory submissions, cost management, resource planning, CRA activities, data management, medical writing, or vendor management is an asset.

Experience in dermatology clinical trials is considered an advantage.

PMP certification is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism is an asset.

Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and project management systems.

Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues and build effective working relationships.
