Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Site Engineer Civil to spearhead turnkey construction projects in East Africa. The role will involve managing the civil engineering aspects of large-scale projects, including site preparation, foundation works, infrastructure development, and project handover.

The ideal candidate will have 1015 years of experience in the Indian construction sector, with strong exposure to turnkey EPC projects, steel fabrication, modular/pre-fabricated construction, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all civil engineering activities for turnkey projects, including:
• Earthworks and excavation
• Concrete and foundation works
• Drainage systems
• Roads and site infrastructure
• Civil works integrated with structural steel and pre-fabricated elements
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams comprising engineers, contractors, procurement teams, and site personnel.
• Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within approved budgets, and in accordance with project specifications.
• Coordinate site and factory activities to ensure smooth integration of civil, structural steel, and modular construction works.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct project risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Support regulatory approvals and coordination with relevant authorities, including URA and NEMA.
• Identify and implement value-engineering opportunities to optimize project costs and improve project efficiency.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prepare and review BOQs, and support project estimation and planning.
• Participate in post-project reviews and implement lessons learned for future projects.
• Contribute to the company's expansion into other sectors and heavy-fabrication turnkey projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 1015 years of relevant experience in civil project management and turnkey EPC project execution.
• Proven experience managing large-scale turnkey projects, preferably with project values of USD 2 million or above.
• Strong experience in civil works related to:
• Industrial projects
• Campsite projects
• Office buildings
• Residential projects
• Pre-fabricated/modular structures
• Steel fabrication and integrated construction projects

Essential Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in civil engineering and design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and STAAD.Pro.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Good understanding of reinforced concrete design and applicable standards, including BS Standards and Eurocodes.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, site execution, quality control, and project documentation.

Leadership & Project Management

• Proven ability to lead and manage 30+ member teams on fast-track projects.
• Strong contractor and subcontractor management skills.
• Experience in contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
• Strong understanding of procurement and supply-chain coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple project stakeholders and deliver projects within agreed timelines.

Commercial & Business Acumen

• Experience in budget forecasting and cost control.
• Strong understanding of change orders and variation management.
• Ability to identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to align project execution with business objectives.
• Exposure to infrastructure and construction projects in emerging markets will be an advantage.

Compliance & Quality

• Ensure adherence to applicable ISO 9001 and OHSAS/occupational health and safety standards.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, environmental compliance, and site discipline.
• Ensure all project activities comply with applicable local regulations and construction standards.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 10–15 years of hands-on experience in civil construction and turnkey project execution.
• Strong background in industrial, modular/pre-fabricated, steel-integrated, or EPC projects.
• Experience managing complex, fast-track projects in the construction or fabrication sector.
• Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Willingness to work on-site and relocate to East Africa.
• International or African project experience will be an added advantage.
