Cavalier India is the engineering arm of Cavalier, headquartered in Canada. We deliver product development, tool design, and engineering services to North American plastic manufacturers. Were growing our team and looking for a product development engineer who enjoys turning ideas into well-designed, manufacturable plastic parts.
The Role
You will design and develop plastic components and assemblies for North American customers, working closely with our Product Development Manager, tool designers, and Canadian engineering team. Youll own your design work from concept through release, ensuring every part is moldable, cost-effective, and production-ready.
What Youll Do
Design plastic parts and assemblies in Siemens NX, from concept through detailed 3D models and 2D drawings
Apply DFM principles for injection molding: draft, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, undercuts, and parting lines
¢ Select materials and recommend design changes based on function, cost, and manufacturability
¢ Perform tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T to drawings
¢ Work with tool designers and toolmakers to hand off designs for tooling and support design changes during tool build and sampling
¢ Participate in design reviews and incorporate customer feedback
¢ Communicate with North American customers and Canadian colleagues on progress, questions, and deliverables
¢ Maintain design documentation, BOMs, and revision control to Cavalier standards
¢ Contribute ideas for productivity, automation, and AI-enabled design workflows
What You Bring
¢ Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering
¢ 36 years of experience in plastic product design and development
¢ Working knowledge of injection molding processes, plastic materials, and DFM
¢ Proficiency in Siemens NX (preferred) or similar CAD software such as CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks
¢ Understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis
¢ Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and drawings
¢ Clear written and verbal communication in English
¢ Strong ownership, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
Nice to Have
¢ Experience with mold flow analysis or structural simulation (FEA)
¢ Exposure to automotive, consumer, or industrial plastics programs
¢ Experience working with customers or teams in North America
¢ Interest in automation, scripting, or AI tools for engineering
