Senior Principal Software Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of complex, scalable, and highly available software systems.
• Define technical strategy, engineering standards, coding practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Drive end-to-end development of critical products and platforms from requirements through production.
• Design and implement distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and cloud-native solutions.
• Identify and resolve complex technical, performance, scalability, reliability, and security challenges.
• Conduct architecture and code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to building a strong technical culture.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, DevOps, QA, security, and other stakeholders.
• Lead technical initiatives across multiple teams and influence engineering decisions.
• Improve system performance, availability, observability, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with business and technical objectives.
• Establish and monitor engineering metrics, quality standards, and development processes.
• Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of production systems.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10+ years of strong software engineering experience, preferably in product or technology-driven organizations.
• Proven experience designing and building large-scale, distributed, highly available systems.
• Strong expertise in system architecture, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, C++, or similar.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging systems, and data-storage architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and make sound architectural decisions.
• Excellent technical leadership, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Passion for building high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
