Senior Platform Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable internal developer platforms that improve engineering productivity and delivery speed.
• Develop and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Build, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters, containerized workloads, and orchestration environments.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automated deployment processes using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Argo CD, or Flux CD.
• Develop self-service infrastructure capabilities, reusable platform components, templates, and workflows to enable development teams to provision and deploy applications independently.
• Establish and maintain Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and developer portals using tools such as Backstage.
• Implement observability solutions, including centralized logging, metrics, distributed tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
• Integrate security controls, secrets management, identity and access management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks into platform workflows.
• Improve platform reliability, availability, scalability, performance, and resilience through automation and proactive monitoring.
• Optimize cloud resource utilization and infrastructure costs through capacity planning, performance analysis, and FinOps practices.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, deployment, and production issues in collaboration with application engineering and SRE teams.
• Establish platform engineering standards, reusable architectural patterns, documentation, and operational best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to improve developer experience, infrastructure automation, and platform capabilities.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform initiatives.
• Measure platform effectiveness using metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time, platform adoption, service reliability, and developer productivity

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Infrastructure, or related engineering roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern infrastructure architectures.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, container orchestration, and microservices-based environments.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, or other scripting languages for infrastructure automation and platform tooling.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automated release processes.
• Knowledge of Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), self-service infrastructure, developer portals, and developer experience (DevEx) practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and centralized logging platforms.
• Strong understanding of networking, Linux systems, distributed systems, API gateways, service meshes, and cloud security fundamentals.
• Practical knowledge of DevSecOps, IAM/RBAC, secrets management, policy enforcement, and infrastructure compliance.
• Proven ability to automate repetitive operational tasks and build reusable platform capabilities for multiple engineering teams.
• Experience improving platform reliability, scalability, deployment efficiency, developer productivity, and infrastructure cost optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting, system design, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers, document technical standards, and drive continuous improvements in platform architecture and operations.
