Job Title: Senior Node.js Full Stack Developer Location:
Bangalore Department:
IT Job Type:
Full-time (Work from office) Job Summary : We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Developer whose primary expertise is Node.js backend development, complemented by hands-on experience with Next.js, React.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies. This is fundamentally a backend-focused role: you will contribute across the full stack, but the core expectation is strong ownership of backend engineering using Node.js. The ideal candidate has practical experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native, enterprise-grade web platforms. You should be comfortable across the full software development lifecycle, with a strong focus on backend architecture, performance, security, database design, and scalable system design. Frontend work with Next.js and React.js supports full-stack delivery, but backend engineering in Node.js remains the primary responsibility. AI-native development is a must. We expect you to build as an AI-native engineer — using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor AI as an integral part of your daily workflow to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed. This is not optional; AI fluency is a core requirement of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Node.js.
- Build secure, high-performance, and maintainable RESTful APIs.
- Design and implement microservices-based and event-driven architectures.
- Implement authentication, authorization, API security, and role-based access control.
- Develop cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Design optimized relational and NoSQL data models across MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Valkey.
- Apply query optimization and indexing strategies to keep systems performant.
- Integrate backend services with Next.js and React.js frontends and build responsive UI components when required.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues with scalable, long-term solutions.
- Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Ensure security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability across everything you build.
Backend (Primary Skills) Node.js is your core strength. We expect deep, hands-on experience across:
- Node.js with Express.js, NestJS, or similar frameworks.
- RESTful API development, API design, and backend service architecture.
- Authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth, and RBAC.
- API security best practices.
- Microservices and event-driven architecture.
- API Gateway patterns and serverless backend development.
- Backend performance optimization.
- Error handling, logging, monitoring, and debugging.
- Scalable, maintainable backend code design.
Frontend (Secondary Skills) Frontend ability supports full-stack delivery but remains secondary to backend ownership. You should be comfortable with:
- Next.js and React.js.
- TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS/SASS.
- Tailwind CSS.
- Responsive, cross-browser-compatible interfaces.
- REST API integration.
- Server-side rendering (SSR).
- Basic frontend performance optimization. Database Technologies You should be able to model data for scalable applications and make sound trade-offs between consistency, performance, and cost, with strong skills across:
- MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Database design, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Stored procedures.
- DynamoDB.
- Redis and Valkey.
- Data modeling for scalable applications. AWS & Cloud We are not looking for a dedicated cloud or platform engineer. What matters is that you have a solid working knowledge of AWS and can confidently build and run cloud-native applications on it. A solid conceptual grasp of the core services — S3, CloudFront, Lambda, CloudWatch, EKS, ECS, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, IAM, Route 53, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager Parameter Store, RDS, VPC, Security Groups, Load Balancers, and Auto Scaling — is expected, along with the judgment to choose and wire the right services for a given problem. Depth of a cloud specialist is a bonus, not the requirement. DevOps & CI/CD You should approach DevOps as a developer, not as a dedicated DevOps engineer. The expectation is a sound conceptual understanding of how software is built, containerized, and shipped — Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, and CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins — together with monitoring and logging practices. In short, you should be able to own your deployment workflows and reason clearly about CI/CD pipelines, without needing to be a specialist. Testing & Quality Similarly, testing is expected from a developer's mindset rather than a QA engineer's. You should design testable backend architecture and take ownership of quality through unit testing with Jest, API testing, and end-to-end testing with Playwright, while keeping an eye on code coverage standards and review practices. The goal is an engineer who thinks about quality and builds it in from the start, not a separate QA function. AI Tools & AI-Native Development AI is a must. Day-to-day use of AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor AI — is a core part of how we build, not a nice-to-have. We expect AI-native development to be second nature: using these tools to accelerate design, coding, testing, and debugging, and continuously raising your own productivity and code quality through them. This way of working is essential — not optional — for the role. Good to Have
- Experience with SaaS platforms and multi-tenant architecture.
- Cloud-native and serverless application development.
- AWS Associate or Professional certification.
- AI / LLM integrations.
- RAG systems.
- Generative AI applications.
- Vector databases.
- OpenSearch / Elasticsearch. Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong ownership mindset.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
- Good collaboration and teamwork.
- Ability to mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Strong technical leadership capability.
- Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6–9 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Strong backend engineering experience using Node.js.
- Experience building enterprise-scale web applications.
- Experience with AWS-based cloud-native systems.
- Experience delivering scalable APIs, microservices, and database-driven applications.
- Frontend experience with Next.js and React.js (preferred).

About
JOOLA was founded by Karl Frey, the former owner of the department store group, Fr. Th. Jooss, located in Landau, Germany. The sports department of Jooss was involved in the production of the first table tennis tables in 1952. By 1954, table tennis production became an independent department within the group. In the 1950’s, it was common to combine the names of companies and cities, which is how the JOOLA brand name came to be – a combination of Jooss and Landau.
After tremendous success and popularity, JOOLA established itself as an independent company and relocated to Godramstein in 1963. The company experienced exponential growth and quickly reached production capacity in its new location, despite taking over additional buildings. In 1973, JOOLA opened its Siebeldingen campus, which features an 1800m² production facility, 1200m² of warehousing space, and 700m² of office space. The Siebeldingen campus is still being used today as the home of JOOLA’s European Headquarter.
In 1979, Michael Bachtler, managing director of JOOLA since 1968, took over the company as CEO. He oversaw major milestones such as becoming the official table sponsor for the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Summer Games.
In 2018, Michael Bachtler announced his plans for succession and in 2019 JOOLA was acquired by their North American partner, Sport Squad, Inc. under the leadership of Richard Lee, President of the company. JOOLA and Sport Squad, Inc. have been partners since 2006, when Sport Squad, Inc. became the North American distributor for the JOOLA brand.
In 2022, JOOLA launched JOOLA Pickleball and immediately took the sport by storm as the sponsor of pickleball world Ben Johns and a partner of USPPA.
JOOLA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED is the latest addition of country-specific Company subsidiary. It is registered with MCA, GoI.
