About the Role

Emdee is a 20+ year old system integrator delivering IT infrastructure, software, security and surveillance, IT-enabled services, and manpower solutions primarily to government and public sector clients. It is headquartered in Kolkata and has presence in multiple states.

This role is Emdee's technical voice in the sales cycle and owns the technical correctness of everything we design and install. Working alongside sales and business development, you will shape the solution, build the BOQ, and carry the technical bid through to award. Once a project is won, you will see your design through to a commissioned site, supervising deployments across locations and taking direct charge of the complex ones.

Key Responsibilities

1. Presales and Business Development

• Work with sales and business development to track and qualify government and public sector opportunities (tenders, RFPs, EOIs, GeM bids), and give a clear technical go / no-go view on fit and eligibility
• Engage clients, consultants, and end users before the bid through requirement discovery, site visits, pre-bid meetings and queries, shaping the solution to the client's need and the tender's evaluation criteria
• Own the technical bid: proposals, solution write-ups, compliance matrices, topology drawings, datasheets, OEM authorisations (MAF), and alternates against restrictive specifications
• Present solutions to clients and evaluation committees through presentations, demos, and proofs of concept, and handle technical objections during evaluation
• Build relationships with clients, OEMs, and channel partners, and identify expansion, refresh, and AMC opportunities within existing accounts

2. Solution Design and BOQ

• Plan and vet site surveys, and design infrastructure from floor plans, drawings, and survey data: network topology, IP schema, device placement, cable routing, PoE and power budgets, and storage and bandwidth sizing
• Build and validate technical BOQs covering make and model selection, quantities across sites, passive and accessory items, and installation and service lines, working with procurement and OEMs on specifications and budgetary pricing so that every offer is both compliant and commercially competitive
• Hand over each won project to delivery with clear scope, assumptions, exclusions, and risks, so that what was sold is what gets built

3. Execution and Delivery

• Supervise deployments across project sites, coordinate site readiness and materials with the delivery and procurement teams, and flag any variance from the design or BOQ before execution commits
• Own commissioning across networking, surveillance and biometrics, servers and storage, endpoints, and AV and smart classroom systems, and resolve faults escalated from the field
• Drive acceptance testing, snag closure, client handover, and as-built documentation to a standard that stands up to departmental inspection
• Guide field engineers on installation quality, configuration practice, and documentation, and manage OEM support escalations, defects, warranty, and RMA

What We're Looking For

• 6 to 10 years in IT infrastructure and network engineering at a system integrator, IT OEM, or infrastructure services company; government and PSU project experience preferred
• Presales or technical sales experience: responding to tenders and RFPs, building technical proposals and compliance matrices, and presenting solutions to clients
• A track record of designing and executing multi-site deployments, including building BOQs from floor plans and survey data
• Hands-on depth across active and passive networking (switching, routing, firewalls and VPN, wireless, structured cabling, and fibre), with practical exposure to IP surveillance, biometrics, servers and storage, UPS and power, and AV and video conferencing
• Working familiarity with OEM ecosystems across networking, surveillance, compute, and power, including product fitment, budgetary price discovery, and warranty processes
• Experience supervising field engineers and vendors on site, with accountability for installation quality and schedule
• Commercial awareness: comfortable working with costing, pricing, and margins, and supporting sales targets alongside technical delivery
• Strong written and verbal communication, and comfortable presenting to client technical teams, consultants, and evaluation committees
• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Electrical, or a related discipline; CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certifications are an advantage
• Based in Kolkata or willing to relocate, with regular travel to project sites and client locations across states
