    About this role

    Intro

Canopy is seeking a seasoned and pragmatic Sr Mobile Software Engineer to design and build our mobile offerings. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution. We are looking for a leader who can take end-to-end ownership of critical projects, mentor fellow engineers, and make strategic decisions that shape our technical future. If you are a builder who can navigate ambiguity, translate user needs into elegant technical solutions, and lead by example, we want to hear from you.

    About Canopy

Our mission is to help hospitals ensure that healthcare workers feel safe, appreciated, and empowered every day to deliver the highest quality of care. We develop and deploy critical safety technology, including our wearable duress system and Real-Time Location System (RTLS) portfolio, delivered as a comprehensive service to enterprise healthcare systems across the United States. Join our tight-knit group of passionate builders, designers, and product thinkers who value curiosity, ownership, and a commitment to quality. We believe that the best products are built when talented individuals are given the autonomy to do their best while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical, user-facing features and backend services.

Take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial ideation and technical design through to deployment and post-launch maintenance.

Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and business stakeholders to shape the product roadmap and translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.

Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback through code reviews and design discussions.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and set the standard for code quality across the team.

Deconstruct ambiguous, complex problems into clear, actionable steps for the team.

Identify and address performance bottlenecks, production issues, and sources of technical debt.

Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes to enhance team productivity and system reliability.

Identify ways to leverage AI to increase software development velocity.

    Required Qualifications

6+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of shipping high-impact products on schedule.

Demonstrated proficiency of system design, data structures, and algorithms.

Mastery of mobile app constraints (network connectivity, touch UX accessibility, etc) and how to leverage or overcome them.

Can architect and deliver performant and resilient mobile applications from scratch.

Understands source code in any modern language at a glance.

Deep expertise in either iOS or Android, with experience developing for the other.

A strong product mindset and the ability to think from a user's perspective. You care about the why as much as the how .

Proven ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.

Experience working in a cross-functional environment and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with a knack for balancing technical purity with business velocity.

    Nice to haves

Experience with cross-platform mobile development (we use Flutter).

    Strong AI-assisted mobile development workflows.

Experience implementing end-to-end CI/CD for mobile applications.

    Location

Remote (U.S.-based) or Hybrid in our New York office.

If you're excited about the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, collaborate with a talented team, and make a positive impact on the lives of healthcare workers, we'd love to hear from you. Join us in making a difference, from anywhere in the world, and apply now!
