Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Manager - Finance, Revenue Assurance to lead the revenue accounting, direct-cost accounting, reconciliation, control, and revenue assurance function. The role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely recognition of revenue and associated direct costs, while strengthening financial controls and driving automation across invoicing, billing, collections, and payment gateway reconciliation.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in IFRS 15 revenue recognition, accounting and reconciliation, process controls, and financial systems, along with the ability to work closely with Business, Technology, Operations, and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Revenue Accounting & Recognition:

- Own end-to-end accounting and reporting of revenue across products, services, channels, and customer segments.

- Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers and applicable accounting policies.

- Review contracts, pricing structures, discounts, refunds, cancellations, incentives, and other commercial arrangements for revenue recognition implications.

- Establish and monitor appropriate revenue recognition controls, including cut-off, completeness, accuracy, and occurrence.

- Prepare and review revenue-related accounting entries, accruals, deferrals, provisions, and reconciliations.

- Partner with the controllership team for month-end and year-end close activities.

2. Direct Cost Accounting & Margin Assurance:

- Own accounting and reconciliation of direct costs associated with revenue, including vendor/service-provider costs, transaction charges, commissions, payment gateway charges, and other variable costs.

- Ensure appropriate matching of revenue and directly attributable costs.

- Develop controls to identify revenue leakage, cost leakage, duplicate charges, incorrect billing, and unbilled/overbilled transactions.

- Provide analysis of revenue, direct costs, gross margin, and key business drivers.

3. Revenue Assurance & Reconciliation:

- Lead end-to-end reconciliation between operational systems, billing systems, invoicing platforms, payment gateways, bank statements, ERP, and general ledger.

- Design and maintain daily/monthly reconciliation frameworks covering:

1. Orders/transactions vs. invoices

2. Invoices vs. collections

3. Payment gateway transactions vs. bank settlements

4. Billing system vs. ERP

5. Revenue sub-ledger vs. General Ledger

6. Revenue vs. direct costs

- Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks and ensure timely closure of exceptions.

- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor revenue leakage, unapplied receipts, failed transactions, settlement differences, and outstanding reconciliation items.

4. Billing & Invoicing Automation:

- Drive automation of billing, invoicing, revenue accounting, and reconciliation processes to reduce manual intervention and improve accuracy.

- Work with Technology/Product teams to define finance requirements, business rules, accounting logic, and system controls.

- Identify opportunities for straight-through processing and automated accounting entries.

- Participate in ERP, billing-system, payment-platform, and finance-system implementations/upgrades.

- Ensure appropriate audit trails, access controls, validation rules, and exception management within automated processes.

5. Payment Gateway & Collections Reconciliation:

- Own reconciliation of payment gateway transactions with customer orders, invoices, settlements, and bank credits.

- Ensure accurate accounting of payment gateway fees, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, failed transactions, and settlement timing differences.

- Establish automated exception reporting and ageing mechanisms for unresolved settlement differences.

- Coordinate with banks, payment gateways, and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.

6. Financial Controls & Audit:

- Design and strengthen internal controls over revenue and direct costs.

- Identify process/control gaps and implement preventive and detective controls.

- Support internal, statutory, and external audits relating to revenue recognition, billing, collections, and revenue assurance.

- Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and accounting position papers.

- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

7. MIS & Business Insights:

- Develop and present management reports covering revenue, direct costs, gross margin, collections, reconciliation status, and revenue leakage.

- Establish key metrics and dashboards for revenue assurance and financial operations.

- Provide insights into trends, anomalies, process inefficiencies, and opportunities for improving revenue realization and margins.

Preferred Candidate Background:

- Candidates from fintech, e-commerce, digital platforms, SaaS, subscription businesses, marketplaces, payments, telecom, or other high-volume transaction businesses would be particularly relevant, especially where they have managed large-scale revenue reconciliation and automated billing/payment processes.
