Senior Manager /Chief Manager ATM Reconciliation & Controls

Key Responsibilities

1. Reconciliation Governance & Oversight

Provide end-to-end oversight of ATM reconciliation processes covering:

ATM cash balances

ATM transactions

Electronic Journal (EJ) reconciliation

Switch and settlement reconciliations

Suspense and GL account reconciliation

Ensure adherence to defined SLAs for reconciliation completion and exception resolution.

Monitor daily reconciliation and identify emerging risks.

2. Control Framework Management

Design and strengthen preventive, detective, and corrective controls across ATM reconciliation processes.

Ensure zero tolerance for unreconciled high-value or aged exceptions.

Establish maker-checker controls and exception governance mechanisms.

Conduct periodic control reviews and risk assessments.

Define and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Control Indicators (KCIs).

3. ATM Cash Tally & Variance Management

Drive governance around ATM cash balancing and cash variance management.

Monitor shortages, excesses, partial dispenses, cash retention cases, and unresolved ATM claims.

Ensure timely investigation and recovery of identified shortages.

Review recurring variance trends and implement corrective actions.

4. Process Efficiency & Automation

Identify automation opportunities across reconciliation and exception management processes.

Lead implementation of reconciliation tools, workflow automation, and dashboard reporting.

Optimize manpower utilization through process redesign and simplification.

Drive straight-through-processing (STP) initiatives to reduce manual interventions.

Partner with Technology teams to implement scalable reconciliation solutions.

5. Audit, Compliance & Regulatory Management

Act as the primary point of contact for Internal Audit, External Audit, RBI, and regulatory reviews.

Ensure timely closure of audit observations and control gaps.

Maintain documentation of controls, SOPs, process notes, and governance frameworks.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements.

6. MIS & Business Insights

Develop and review management dashboards on:

ATM shortages/excesses

Open reconciliation items

Aging Exceptions

Financial exposure

Productivity metrics

Control effectiveness indicators

Present periodic reviews to senior management highlighting risks, trends, and remediation plans.

7. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

Collaborate with:

ATM Operations

Technology Teams

Finance & Accounts

Audit & Compliance

Cash Management Vendors

ATM Managed Service Providers

Drive accountability for closure of reconciliation observations across stakeholders.

8. Team Leadership

Lead and mentor reconciliation teams.

Drive performance, productivity, and capability enhancement.

Establish a culture of control ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
