Senior Manager / AGM - Cost Accounting

Role & responsibilities

Project Costing & Budgeting

• Prepare and monitor project budgets based on estimates, BOQs, contracts, and execution plans.
• Develop project cost structures covering materials, manpower, subcontractors, logistics, and overheads.
• Track Budget vs. Actual costs and identify cost risks.
• Support project tendering and commercial evaluations through cost analysis.

Cost Control & Monitoring

• Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
• Analyze cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
• Track material, manpower, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Prevent cost leakage through effective monitoring and controls.

Profitability Analysis & Forecasting

• Monitor project profitability and contribution margins.
• Prepare Cost-to-Complete and Estimated Cost at Completion (EAC) forecasts.
• Highlight risks affecting project margins and profitability.
• Support management with accurate cost and profitability projections.

Cost Accounting & MIS

• Maintain cost centers and costing structures.
• Ensure proper allocation of direct and indirect costs.
• Prepare monthly cost control MIS and management reports.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide meaningful business insights.
• Support data-driven decision-making through accurate financial reporting.

Procurement & Inventory Cost Management

• Work closely with Procurement and Stores teams to control material costs.
• Analyze purchase price and material consumption variances.
• Monitor inventory levels, excess stock, and material wastage.
• Support vendor cost benchmarking and cost optimization initiatives.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Strengthen costing processes and financial controls.
• Develop and implement SOPs for cost accounting and cost control.
• Drive reporting automation and process standardization.

Ensure compliance with company policies and approval procedures.

Preferred candidate profile

• CMA / ICWA qualified (Mandatory).
• 12+ years of experience in Cost Accounting, Cost Control, Project Finance, or Management Accounting.
• Strong experience in EPC, Engineering, Construction, Real Estate, MEP, ELV, Infrastructure, or similar project-based industries.
• Sound knowledge of project costing, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and business partnering skills.
