Senior Lead Network & Nutanix Engineer

Role Overview


We are seeking an experienced Senior Lead Network & Nutanix Engineer to take ownership of our enterprise network and Nutanix infrastructure platforms. 
This is a senior hands-on engineering role focused on the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of a large-scale, highly available and business-critical technology estate. The successful candidate will be the technical authority for network services and Nutanix infrastructure, providing expert-level engineering capability, leading major incident resolution and driving operational excellence across the environment. 
This is not a management position. We are looking for a highly technical individual who enjoys troubleshooting complex problems, improving resilience, implementing best practice and maintaining deep technical expertise. 




Key Responsibilities


Network Engineering Leadership


Act as the technical owner for all enterprise networking services.


Design, implement and support LAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure.


Own network standards, architecture and technical governance.


Lead troubleshooting of complex routing, switching and connectivity issues.


Support branch, office, warehouse and remote site connectivity.


Maintain highly available and resilient network services.


Lead network lifecycle management and technology refresh programmes.


Improve network visibility through monitoring, alerting and reporting.


Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and recurring faults.


Review and approve significant network changes and implementations.






Nutanix Infrastructure Leadership


Act as the technical owner for Nutanix infrastructure services.


Administer and support Nutanix clusters and Prism management platforms.


Perform lifecycle management, upgrades and patching activities.


Manage infrastructure capacity, performance and availability.


Troubleshoot storage, compute and virtualisation issues.


Develop and maintain infrastructure standards and operational procedures.


Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.


Drive platform optimisation and operational improvements.


Ensure infrastructure remains secure, resilient and supportable.






Major Incident & Operational Support


Act as senior technical escalation point for critical incidents.


Lead technical troubleshooting and service restoration activities.


Conduct detailed root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions.


Develop technical runbooks and operational documentation.


Support disaster recovery testing and resilience exercises.


Drive continuous service improvement initiatives.






Technical Governance


Define and maintain technical standards across networking and Nutanix platforms.


Review technical designs and implementation plans.


Ensure documentation remains accurate and current.


Work closely with internal teams and technology partners to deliver successful outcomes.


Identify opportunities for automation, simplification and optimisation.

Experience Required


Essential


8+ years of enterprise infrastructure and networking experience.


Significant hands-on network engineering experience.


Extensive Nutanix administration and support experience.


Experience supporting large multi-site environments.


Experience leading technical troubleshooting during major incidents.


Experience designing resilient infrastructure and network solutions.


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Experience working in highly available operational environments.


Highly Desirable


Retail, healthcare, warehousing or logistics sector experience.


Experience with large-scale branch network environments.


Experience supporting business-critical operational systems.


Experience with network modernisation and infrastructure transformation programmes.
