Location- Permanent work from home Job Brief We're looking for a

Senior Backend Developer (Java) to join our Engineering team.

This is a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex backend engineering problems, writing clean and scalable code, and taking end-to-end ownership of features. This role is

not a people management or Engineering Manager position. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to build highly scalable backend services powering enterprise customers worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features—from technical design and development to deployment and production support.
• Design and build secure, high-performance REST APIs and backend services.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and fellow Engineers to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and solution design for new features and enhancements.
• Conduct technical analysis, troubleshoot production issues, identify bottlenecks, and drive them to resolution.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code while following engineering best practices.
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts whenever required to validate new ideas or technical approaches.
• Develop automated tests and ensure adequate test coverage to maintain application quality.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and database efficiency.
• Build and maintain scalable distributed systems running on cloud infrastructure.
• Continuously improve engineering processes, code quality, and development workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and code reviews while remaining a hands-on Individual Contributor.
• Work independently, take complete ownership of deliverables, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Required skills and qualifications

• 7–11 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• This is a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role. We are

not looking for Engineering Managers or candidates whose current role primarily involves people management.

• Must have experience working at a B2B SaaS product-based company.
• Must have startup experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
• Strong expertise in

Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs, and Microservices.

• Strong understanding of

Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, and System Design.

• Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with

MySQL/PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

• Experience working with

AWS (or another major cloud platform).

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Comfortable taking complete ownership of features from design to production.
